Although in US the problem is not only left, unlike in Europe. It's
    also right.

What does an old Finn know about American youth?

I wasn't talking about youth only. Obviously in US both the left & right
are nuts. In Europe only the left (& center helping it) is nuts.

(Notice how I used "center" instead of "centre", to make it easier for you)

So TT, you are comparing the USA and Europe.

Let's get back to our major problem here which guns.

It's awful what happened to Charlie but he became one of the few casualties that he thought were worth it in order to have guns around. He said this:

    https://x.com/JasonSCampbell/status/1643977032509067272

And the last things he talked about before the shot were guns and shootings as well. He was down playing the gun killing in this country.

    It's all weird.

Wondering if he really believed in guns or if he was fulfilling his paid duties to defend them.

Honesty doesn't exist any more unfortunately.

Look, maybe not. Maybe if a random deranged tranny has access to guns and is good at shooting at it's easy to get guns, then perhaps I am wrong here.

But I would normally assume that political assassins have an agenda and whoever is ready for that, would have found a way to get his rifle or whatever.

Bottom line, I would not want to live in a country with that amount of guns, but you all people are barking at the wrong tree.

Guns are enshrined (at least that's the current interpretation) in your constitution so gun fans defend their guns as a matter of principle. The stronger you attack them, the bigger the backlash from them.

So I would not push that issue as it's a losing cause.

As Anglin once said, they all have guns and would never use them, e.g. they didn't use guns in January 2021 to prevent election theft, they would only use guns if someone came to take their guns. So the purpose of guns is to defend gun ownership?

So it's basically a huge masturbation.

Guns are also, sadly, needed because it's a rather unsafe country. Many people like Sawfish feel they need guns?

So if someone really wanted to remove guns, the first goal should be to make country safe, so that people like Sawfish don't even think they need guns.

Only then you can have a debate about personal protection from government oppression and whether personal firearms are actually a bulwark against government's tanks, bombs, drones and nukes?

    Of course they're not.

Civil disobedience is enough to bring down any government, if 100 million people just sat everything stops.

But as long as blacks kill in the streets Sawfish wants his gun, no?

So, someone like me who doesn't like guns, knows where you need to start this decade long journey.

    Arrest blacks, pronto.

Civil disobedience is enough to bring down any government, if 100 million people just sat everything stops.

But as long as blacks kill in the streets Sawfish wants his gun, no?

This all basically makes sense to me.

I've thought about this a lot. As you're well aware, that part of the
Balkans seems to be familiar with firearms---even used in celebrations
like goddam Afghan ragheads--so as I grew up every household had one, in
the same way they had an axe or a bucksaw. It was a multipurpose tool: utilitarian and defensive. Like most other tools, there is potential for offensive use, as well, and it's good and honest to note that firearms
lend themselves very well to use as offensive weapons. They quickly
bring out the worst in people.

So pretty much my family and all relatives--and in fact almost all
people in rural America at that time owned some form of long gun. There
were very few pistols--not an important point, but gives you the flavor
of traditional US gun ownership of the pre-60s.

Now in the urban US, much of it, gun ownership for folks like me is a
sort of insurance policy that you hope to God you'll never collect on.
As I get way up there in years, and the end comes within sight, I've
asked my wife--Japanese, who has the common Japanese discomfort with firearms--if she want me to familiarize her with how to use a revolver,
since you never know when, like Iceberg, I won't be around any more.

To my great, great surprise, she said "Yes". This reflects her own
perception of potential risk in contemporary PDX, and she is anything
but a wilting lily. She is as tough as nails, when required. Much
    tougher than me.

But yeah, if I could be 90% sure that a) I would not be attacked or
approached randomly in public by aggressive strangers; and b) that all
others are without firearms or other primarily offensive weapons, I
wouldn't want them, or feel like if I'm supposed to protect my family
and myself, I'd better have one, just in case.

    Yep.

So, someone like me who doesn't like guns, knows where you need to start this decade long journey.

    Arrest blacks, pronto.

Some people flee from blacks to safety to Russian America, some
stay in continental US and vote Trump.
So Trump was elected to unleash revenge on Black people?

    ...and white progressives, among others.

This is a time unique within my lifetime. Virtually everyone my age
was told our entire lives that democracy was the only decent form of
    government, that authoritarianism was intolerable.

For the first time in my life, in the US, we're seeing what
across-the-board authoritarianism looks like, first hand.
So "across-the-board" authoritarianism looks like people getting
murdered in broad daylight on a train?-a You're not making much sense
    here.
imo, we should be more worried about what the next administration
does regardless of party, they'll probably be much worse.

I wonder how many find that they prefer it...?
Really there is only so much Fox News can cover for the failings of
    this administration.-a [snip]
Are you thinking a recession is about to hit (if it isn't already here)?

Not sure if it's technically a recession.-a But things aren't looking great.-a Grocery prices, expensive as every plus some.-a Gas prices, about the same or worse.-a We haven't even begun to see the effects of the
tariffs and coming trade wars.-a And your guys just voted to add 3
TRILLION to the debt while also cutting tax revenue.-a "Fiscal conservatives" my ass...

Job cuts in the auto industry isn't making me feel any better about the
    USA economy.

Rand Paul and I were echos regarding the "Big Beautiful Bill".

What good is that if Jews won't let you out?

It's like (I know you like these comparisons) Jews in Warsaw ghetto during ww2 issuing passports to each other.

    Where can they go?

Well, maybe they should accepted offers for palestinian state & stop
    waging war against Israel.

What does an old Finn know about American youth?
I wasn't talking about youth only. Obviously in US both the left &

    nuts.

Interestingly TT considers himself to be the only sane one, but he
recently proposed (or at least supported) nuking Gaza?!

You're correct, that's not a good solution. A nuke big enough to wipe
Gaza scum off the Earth would cause radiation etc problems in Israel
as well. Maybe that's a decent trade off though?

So they could break ground for Trumpland Gaza in 32025?

I wonder what the E ticket attractions would be like?

Following this for years--I can recall hearing about the 6 day war in
summer evening class at college--I was, as mot people in the US at the
time, sympathetic to the Israelis--they seemed outnumbered...the clear underdog.

But over the years seeing images and reports from the west bank, etc.,
it looks to me like the IDF is a lot like under-supervised samurai left
to their own devices by the local war lord, doesn't it?

I guess if right and wrong in the world in general still concerned me,
it would be wrong. But I'm well past that point, for sure.

Corsica was ruled by the Republic of Genoa from 1284 to 1755, when it seceded to become a self-proclaimed, Italian-speaking republic. In 1768, Genoa officially ceded it to Louis XV of France as part of a pledge for the debts incurred after enlisting French military help in suppressing the Corsican revolt; as a result, France annexed the island in 1769.
