• Why is watching a match a 2nd time not as enjoyable?

I've just watched the 1994 European Champions Cup Final again today.
I've also watched the European Championship match between Netherlands
and Germany from 1992, and Real Madrid v Eintracht Frankfurt, again
    recently.

All 3 matches were extremely good the 1st time I watched them. None of
them were any better than very good the 2nd time. Is the secret to
pretend I'm watching them live, and ignore the fact that I know the
result? Would watching it with that attitude make them more enjoyable?

Reading a book a 2nd time when you already know what happens can be
just as enjoyable as the 1st time, so I'm not sure why watching a
football match a 2nd time is less enjoyable.

It's just basic psychology - your mind has already processed that
"experience" and you know what's going to happen so there's no tension
or excitement from the unexpected - although I say that as somebody who wouldn't enjoy reading a book a second time.

I have watched matches I've already watched and enjoyed them but I take enjoyment more from the trip down memory lane than the football match
itself - marvelling at the architecture of the old stadiums, how
different the kits looked, advertising boards from forgotten companies
or for obsolete technology (JVC Super VHS!), seeing players I haven't
    heard of in ages etc.

For me it's basically that I think it's a waste of time.
