I tried posting on JLA, and ran into that problem in my first post. I
decided to not use them for another reason - they won't post usenet
messages with web links (other than to JLA, of course) - but seeing how
they butcher threads gave me another reason to avoid them.
There are large gaps in the archives of JLA Forums also, unfortunately.
I found this out when making a post by post search through various
years, 2004-2008 and so on, and found many of my threads are missing.
I think that's due to weblinks in the posts. I'm happy with what they're
doing for PPB now, but that's something they set up later; I'm sure the
bulk of PPB posts from the past just aren't there. And other posts with
links (like the Dancehall) still don't appear.
If it's any consolation, I think it's worked out worse for Team Monkey.
They're hunkered down on JLA Forums, where they can't promote their own
thing; and (since they can and do keep attaching binaries) most of what
they do post doesn't get out onto usenet.
I know it's different for you, because you and some nice people (like
MC) want to revitalize JLA Forums; but for me it's the closest thing
I've seen to my formula for usenet peace: the Monkey Cage, with them
staying in and us staying out. That failed with the AYOS threads on
google - we stayed out, but they wouldn't stay in - and only worked with
their facebook group until they learned how to get back on here - but
this time, thanks to JLA's approach to technology, it seems to be
working better than ever before.
