    From Newsgroup: rec.games.trivia

These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2024-11-11,
    and should be interpreted accordingly.

On each question you may give up to two answers, but if you give
both a right answer and a wrong answer, there is a small penalty.
Please post all your answers in a single followup to the newsgroup,
based only on your own knowledge. (In your answer posting, quote
the questions and place your answer below each one.) I will reveal
the correct answers in about 3 days.

All questions were written by members of What She Said, and are
used here by permission, but have been reformatted and may have
been retyped and/or edited by me. The posting and tabulation of
current-events questions is independent of the concurrent posting
of other rounds. For further information please see my 2024-08-30
companion posting on "Questions from the Canadian Inquisition
    (QFTCI*)".

    * Game 9, Round 2 - Geography - Battlegrounds

Battles are a part of history, but they're also a part of geography,
since we fight battles mostly in places. We'll describe a battle's
location in modern-day terms and tell you when the battle was fought
there: you tell us what place we're talking about. All answers will
complete the expression "the Battle of...". Wars will not repeat.

    1. 1942-1943: the largest island in the Solomon Islands, covered
    in tropical rainforest.

    2. 1781: a county seat in Virginia on the Atlantic Coast.

    3. 1815: a town in what is now the province of Walloon Brabant
    in Belgium.

    4. 1916: a river in Picardy in northern France, and specifically
the portion of it due east of Amiens.

    5. 1862: a tributary of the Potomac River in Maryland, or a small
town in Maryland near the border of West Virginia (either
    name acceptable).

    6. 480 BC: a narrow mountain pass and nearby town in central Greece,
    located near hot springs.

    7. 1415: a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department of Northern
    France.

    8. 1950: a port city in South Korea of 3,000,000 people.

    9. 2022: the capital city of the 3rd-most populous province of
Ukraine, which shares its name with the city.

    10. 1066: a small seaside town in East Sussex on the southern
    coast of England.

    * Game 9, Round 3 - Entertainment - Traveling Bandmates

Pop/rock musicians frequently work with different musical groups,
even when they are primarily identified with one particular group
or as a solo artist. We'll name three groups that a particular
musician has been a member of: you name the musician.

    1. Chickenfoot, The Circle, Van Halen.
    2. Velvet Revolver, Road Crew, Guns n' Roses.
    3. Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, Audioslave.
    4. Nirvana, the Crooked Vultures, Foo Fighters.
    5. The Yardbirds, Derek and the Dominoes, Cream.
    6. Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Panic Channel.
    7. Electric Light Orchestra, Move, the Traveling Wilburys.
    8. Long John Baldry and the All Stars, the Jeff Beck Group, Faces.
    9. Crosby Stills Nash & Young, the Mynah Birds, Buffalo Springfield.
    10. Plastic Ono Band, Delaney and Bonnie and Friends, the Traveling
    Wilburys.
