* Game 9, Round 6 - Canadiana - Canadian Companies
3. This brewery, founded in 1867, is the largest one that is
still Canadian-owned.
5. This bank was formed by the merger of two major Canadian banks.
One of those was incorporated in 1867 by the oldest law firm in
Canada (Blakes, Cassels & Grayson), and the merged bank still
retains them today.
* Game 9, Round 4 - Arts and Literature - "Batman" Villains
This one's easy! We've given you a 2-page handout
http://www.vex.net/~msb/tmp/qftci/9:4/vil.pdf
with pictures of 12 of Batman's most notorious baddies; we'll give
you a number, and you tell us who the "Batman" villain is.
I've rearranged the round in order who the handout, so the two
decoys are interspersed with the others; answer them if you like
for fun, but for no points.
Note that the numbers are *above* the images.

* Game 9, Round 5 - Audio - That Ain't Country!
Every so often, a pop or rock artist crosses over into Nashville
with a song to claim the top of the country charts. Here are ten
country songs by non-country artists: we'll tell you the year of
release *and*, in the case of a duet, the featured country singer
the non-country artist is dueting with. Again, in the original
game a clip was played from each one, but here I'll give you the
title; and you name the relevant singer.
1. "I'm Your Toy" (1981).
2. "Texas Hold'em" (2023).
3. "Funnel of Love" (2016).
4. "Let Me be There" (1973).
5. "He Belongs to Me" (1974).
6. "Love Is Your Name" (2015).
7. "Over and Over" (2004), dueting with Tim McGrw.
8. "Deep River Woman" (2012), performing with Little Big Town.
9. "Who Says You Can't Go Home" (2006), dueting with Jennifer
Nettles.
10. "Picture" (2002). Name *either* singer in this duet, as
neither are country artists.

* Game 9, Round 6 - Canadiana - Canadian Companies
Surprisingly, other countries don't own all of our businesses yet.
We'll tell you facts about 10 Canadian companies: you simply have
to name the company.
1. The oldest continuously operating company in Canada, this
company is headquartered in Brampton.
2. This insurance and financial services company was created in
1887 by an act of Parliament, and was originally overseen by
Sir John A. Macdonald while he was still Prime Minister.
3. This brewery, founded in 1867, is the largest one that is
still Canadian-owned.
4. This Montreal-based clothing retailer was founded in 1840.
They opened their first non-Quebecois location in Edmonton in
2012, and a new flagship store in Mississauga in 2016.
5. This bank was formed by the merger of two major Canadian banks.
One of those was incorporated in 1867 by the oldest law firm in
Canada (Blakes, Cassels & Grayson), and the merged bank still
retains them today.
6. This Quebec-based transportation company is the oldest company in
Canada with "Canada" in its name, having been incorporated
in 1840.
7. This BC-based energy company is actually owned by a similarly
named company in Newfoundland. Throughout its history it has had
many names, with its most recent name change happening in 2011.
8. This holding company owns both Loblaw Cos. Ltd. as well as the
Choice Properties real estate trust, which primarily owns the
land and buildings where Loblaw's various companies operate.
9. This media conglomerate, owned by the richest family in Canada,
owns the "Globe and Mail", among others.
10. This e-commerce platform, founded in Ottawa in 2006, has become
one of the largest e-B2B companies in the world. The platform is
used by online stores to conduct transactions, and was created
by its founders after they became frustrated trying to launch
a platform to sell snowboarding equipment.
These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2024-11-11,
and should be interpreted accordingly... For further information
