Someone recently posted a pic of a gray and black cat. My son has one of those, and we've been cat sitting while he's in Puerto Rico. It's
    awfully pretty cat.

It's a she, but yeah. We just buried Gigi last month, so it's kind of
nice to have a grandcat. Now, we can just pack up and go when we feel
like it. In March we're planning to take an 8 day trip, museums and cool hotels.

The only pricey hotel is the Crescent. The one in Springdale, we have
enough points to make that night free, but I'm going to buy 3,000 more
points (~$39) to upgrade to a room with a whirlpool. We stayed there
    once back in the 1990s.

It's a lot cheaper than going to Puerto Vallarta would have been. Then,
later in the year were planning another.

Betsy and I are both crazy about Bouguereau. Betsy only knows about the

Yeah, I know you're not going to drive 3 hours to see a painting, but if

Your ability to plan trips is impressive

It generates a lot of interest in me. I can come up with great ideas but
then thererCOs frequently a disconnect between the idea and execution!

But I am very motivated to put something together. Probably for sometime in July. But knowing me, I will forget about it til it is too late.

My m-i-l has joked that I probably have as much fun planning as I do on
the vacations. I even have restaurants scoped out. Some we've eaten at
before. This place has been the "winner of 'Best Italian Restaurant in Arkansas' a number of times." https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g31582-d563357-Reviews-Ermilio_s_Italian_Home_Cooking-Eureka_Springs_Arkansas.html

I especially seek out Mexican food. This place, in bohunk rural
    Missouri, is great. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g44899-d11955206-Reviews-Taqueria_Y_Panaderia_Morelos-Sedalia_Missouri.html

If you want free research, I like doing it. The only times I really miss
is if I try to go too cheap on the lodging--old habits from when I was
in a different economic situation. Just tell me what city you're in,
when and where you want to go, how many hours a day of driving you
prefer not to exceed and your nightly room rate maximum. I can most
often even figure out which hotel I'd get with Hotwire Hot Rates. Now
that I'm a "senior citizen," and retired, I never plan for more than
about 5 hours between lodging. A 3 hour drive is great. Four is OK too.
    More than 5 is drudgery.

Driving never bothered me. Drove cross country twice, do FL to CT twice
a year. Two types of driving. Vacation will have stops along the way.
Other times, just want to get to destination.

Did a lot with one of my jobs but sometimes added to what was needed.
Drove 3 1/2 hrs CT to NJ to meet with a customer. then drove another 1.5
to have dinner with friends. After dinner, 4.5 hours home. Easier with
less traffic later in the evening.

When I was younger I loved driving. I would find all manner of excuses
to get out and go for a drive. Then I ended up driving for a living. I
didn't often do long distance but I put on a lot miles every day. I
eventually had my fill of driving. After retiring I started to find that driving was too much like working, except that I have to pay for the gas
    now.

In my early thirties I twice drove solo from Tampa to St. Louis nonstop,
16 hours. At least both times it was in a 1982 Bertone X1/9. I got it up
to over 100MPH in Kentucky. If it were work related, I could have driven
8-10 hours a day and not complained. We had vacations where I drove
that long, but those were not the fun parts of the vacation. I no longer
have limited vacation days, nor is the extra ~$100 for an extra day's
motel that big of a deal. It's still a bit of an adjust in mindset for
that "extra ~$100 for an extra day's motel," but I'm adjusting.

In some ways I'm like a Depression era kid because in 1979 I was on the street. Just because it was my own fault, didn't make the deprivation
much less fearful. I still stock up when things are cheap. I walk a few
extra blocks to avoid paying for parking. We had reasonably extravagant vacations, and other more big time expenditures, but the nickel and dime
stuff got very ingrained. I'm introspective enough that I see the
caricature aspect. Persons often do what served them well in the past,
even when changed circumstances suggest a different regimen.

    Louisville, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee.
    Cincinnati has this:

And Louisville is on the way to Cincinnati. Milwaukee has this:

Betsy and I are both crazy about Bouguereau. Betsy only knows about the
one painting in Omaha, so it'll be a nice surprise that there's three.
If you've never seen one of his paintings up close, this is in Memphis.

Yeah, I know you're not going to drive 3 hours to see a painting, but if >>> you ever happen to be there for another reason, the museum is free 10am
    to noon on Saturdays.

That is a very cute cat

Your ability to plan trips is impressive

It generates a lot of interest in me. I can come up with great ideas but
then thererCOs frequently a disconnect between the idea and execution!

But I am very motivated to put something together. Probably for sometime in >> July. But knowing me, I will forget about it til it is too late.

My m-i-l has joked that I probably have as much fun planning as I do on
the vacations. I even have restaurants scoped out. Some we've eaten at before.

That is a very sweet offer, I will certainly start thinking forward.
