• Remission

In my Christmas message I noted I wasn't going to make any molds in the
shop until after the start of the New Year in spite of getting over a
    nasty bug

Well, that choice has resulted in a minor remission of another bug. My
HSD (Horizontal Surface Disease) is improving in a couple different
areas. I can now see more than 60% of the surface of my welding table.
Its still 90% obstructed, but I can see it.

HSD is a horrible affliction, but I am working on long term mitigation
factors for that as well. Part of the reason for clearing off my
welding table is to get back on making the storage cabinet work benches
I've wanted along the back wall for a long time. I have most of the
steel. I have most of the drawer slides. I have the steel top
material. I just need to clear up my HSD a little bit to get started.

I suffer from that same affliction ... the first step in my case is
going to be to throw a bunch of stuff "I might use some day" away . Then
get all the usable steel scrap moved to the location most of the big
stuff is already at . Some of my scrap is aluminum that needs to be
converted to ingots . Haven't decided what to do with the
    copper/brass/bronze yet .

Copper can be converted to aluminum bronze which can make a decent plane bearing material.

Bronze is bronze, and brass can of course be cast into other brass parts.

    Beware of zinc fumes.
