My $5 12" bench top planer I got today works ! One of the blades is
damaged and I need to fabricate a guard over the cutter head since it is missing . But after I unstuck the brushes it fired right up . I ran a
scrap piece of the 1x rough siding through it and it planes nicely too .

Best find I ever had, even better than "some kind of electrical meter"
(Fluke 77) for $3.00, was the time when walking back to my car I
picked an interesting loking lump off the pavement next to my car. On
closer examination at my next stop it turned out to be a twenty folded
    around a fifty dollar bill!

We used to stack milk crates on the front porch of our grocery store.
Often people waiting for the store to open would use them as a place to
sit in the shade until the doors opened. Largest I ever found was $100
bill which my mom made me put in the store safe and wait a month to see
if anybody came around asking about it. Found lots of change and small
bills. $100 was a LOT of money when I was a kid. More than made up for
the action figure I left out there once that disappeared.

Good deals is a tough one. Had an older friend recently offer me all
his guns for a $1000. There are three of them worth about that much
solo. A couple more have some modest value as well. I told him what I thought they were worth to the right buyers, and asked him if he was
sure at least three times. He said he didn't want to deal with all
that. When I told him I'd have to come back later to pay him as I
didn't have that much in my play money right now he said, "I trust you.
Take them and pay me next time you have the cash." I was kinda stunned.
I think he's just getting old and he wanted his guns to go to somebody
that would appreciate them. Might be one of the best deals I ever got
not counting outright gifts. Really it was kind of a gift. I have
helped him with a few things, but I don't think anything I did for him
    was worth that much.
