While all of the parts had long differences in arrival times, most of the parts to build the Paramount triple will be coming in all at once today. Since this is a non-riding day that is easy enough. Also I have a new ten speed chain waiting to be cleaned and waxed. The 11 speed chain on my Marin San Marino is making noise and will need working over. The noise turned out to be a loose saddke and the chain needs the drip wax treatment.
My end of the month milage for January was 21 miles short of last January before my stroke and at that time I was climbing Palomares Road from the north side every Tuesday. I was trying to go as fast as I could and I was bonking just short of the top and topping with a heart rate of 155 while my max was supposed to be 15 beats lower. So be careful not to over stress your aging heart. All of the rides I've done in January have been flat with just a single 10 foot climb with a mild grade.
In mid-February I will have the triple Moser set up and will do Palomares from the South end which only has a few 12% sections that are followed by mild grades. After a month of that and getting used to pedaling a triple, I will try the north side again. But if I'm stressing I will turn around.
I bought the dust cover plated for 7700 (9 speed) thinking that they were the same as the 7800 (10 speed) That was a lot of wasted money since the dust cover on the 7700 is completely different.
Most of the parts to convert the Moser to a triple are in except for the octalink triple crank itself. I was going to use a long arm Ultegra rear derailleur but I opened the cabinette and there was an XTR long arm there so I will uses that in case I want a larger 10 speed cluster.
