That would seem fair enough! Described as bitterly cold! Probably rather beautiful with it though!

It is indeed sunny and bright today and winds are mild.

Predicted 30mph winds would have made it quite uncomfortable
    but that was fortunately wrong.

Still and all this is well within our normal January, much
    short of record.

Well the rest of the country fights bitter cold and/or heavy snow, it
was beautiful here, high in the high 70s. so I went for a nice 30 mile
bike ride. It seems that 30 miles suits me better than 40 right now.
I'm not nearly as worn out as I was for the last two 40 milers.

My brother was down from Reno and although it was only 44 degrees with a predicted 55 degrees high, he felt it very cold since we rode ribght along the water for 27 miles. He was happy to load his Statadelli (?) back into the back of his truck and drive back to his kids house in Pleasanton for a hot shower and to meet me an Ann along with his wife, my older brother and his wife for Italian tonight. His wife who was a nurse said that the stroke my other sister in law suffered last week must have been relatively minor since her speech if anything is better than before.

We're in the northwest portion of the storm, at this point we're
predicted to get 18-24", but not heavy/wet. The heavy wet prediction is
for southeast/cape/islands where there are ocean heating effects. With
any luck (for me) they'll be right this time. It'll still take me a few
hours to clean up even with my beast of a snowblower* because we have
two driveway entrances on a main travel road. I anticipate a packed
swath of snow from the plows at the end of my driveway likely over two
feet deep and projecting into my drivway 6-8 feet of very wet (from the
town melting treatments) snow-plow packed snow on both entrances.

If the predictions are correct and the temperature stays loe enough to
keep the snow relatively dry, we won't see too many downed limbs/lines.

Nice. I'm a stranger to snow blowers and had to read the
installation directions to find that there's a horizontal
V-belt pulley under the engine. Simpler than PTO hydraulic

Yes that varies a lot. Although we're rural, we front on a
State highway, so it's never impassible and the plows pass
    all night long.

Girlfriend, however, can be stuck for a full day until one
township or the other gets a plow into her valley. Both ways
    out are steep uphill.

I ride inside. The winds no as bad as they thought I am pretty sure
and Andrew has same take. Now they are talking about snow 3-5 inches
tomorrow. The cold is nasty for sure.

We were at 0F when I woke up this morning, now up to 2. I'll be
working out in my basement today.

Went for a ride last Saturday at 1F, went about 3 miles. Since then my
main exercise has been shoveling snow.
