    There are numerous rip-offs, copy-cats, and cash-ins of Star Wars, some
    more blatant than others.

    "Buck Rogers" and "Battlestar Galactica" were the most obvious American
    ones, and George Lucas even took the "Battlestar Galactica" makers to
    court, and eventually lost the case.

    A couple of Italian knock-offs include:

    - "Starcrash" (starring David Hasselhoff!)

    - "The Humanoid"
    <https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080058/?ref_=fn_t_1>

    Then, of course, there is the infamous "D|+nyay-# Kurtaran Adam" ("The
    Man Who Saves The World") from Turkey that literally stole footage from
    George Lucas' movie.

    You have to be careful, though. There is a tendency to see every space-opera/fantasy show post-1977 as a rCLStar WarsrCY ripoff, forgetting
    that George Lucas himself rip^H^H^Hborrowed heavily from what came
    before.

    Lucas is like a Steve Jobs or Bill Gates of the movie world: able to
    convince others, through sheer PR volume, that his repackaging of
    existing ideas is something novel, unlike anything that came before.

    Maybe, but George Lucas and Steve Jobs made (mostly) good products ...
    Bill Gates is a con artist who has produced nothing but complete crap.
