Looks like garbage. It could really just have been the exact same game
without needing the Star Trek name tacked onto it. :-\

New Star Trek Game Trailer Is Surprisingly Scary
    ------------------------------------------------
A new Star Trek video game was announced at Gamescom.
Virtual reality developer Played With Fire, publisher
Broken Mirror Games, and Viacom International Inc.
revealed Star Trek: Infection, along with a new
    trailer.

    What is Star Trek: Infection?
Star Trek: Infection is a "full-body narrative
survival" VR game where players play as a Vulcan
Starfleet officer infected by an unknown entity that
has taken over the U.S.S. Lumen. Players will explore
the ship and take on the threat as the infection
mutates them, giving them dangerous new powers. Check
out the trailer below to get a glimpse at gameplay.

    Trailer: (1min 27secs)

Here is the description for Star Trek: Infection:
"You're a Vulcan Starfleet officer, sent on a special
mission aboard the U.S.S. Lumen, but something has
gone horribly wrong. There's no crew in sight, and an
unknown entity has infested the ship. Now it's inside
your body, physically mutating you, unlocking
dangerous new abilities at the cost of your sanity.
Explore the U. S. S. Lumen. Withstand or embrace the
infection inside you. Confront the darkness within
    the ship... and your mind."

A specific release date has not yet been set for Star
Trek: Infection. However, VR gamers can expect the
game to release for Meta Quest 3 + 3S and Steam VR in
2025. Anyone interested can add the game to their
wishlist right now on both Meta and Steam's digital
    storefront.

Star Trek: Infection is not the only game recently
revealed that is based on the incredibly popular
    sci-fi franchise. Publisher Daedalic Entertainment
and developer gameXcite gave gamers the first look at
Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown. Currently in
development for PC and consoles, the game is
    described as a "brand-new story-based survival
strategy game." A release date has yet to be
announced, but players can add it to their Steam
    wishlists right now.

Yeah, is being a Vulcan really relevant here?

I haven't played the game. Maybe it is; maybe I'm using my inherent
    psionic abilities to battle it.

According to the trailer, being emotional accelerates the rate of
infection, hence a (near)emotionless Vulcan was best for the job. But,
since the player does have emotions, especially in what is really a
horror game, that makes the character somewhat unrelateable. :-\
