In California it is still the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf of North America will be
created in the coming inundation maybe 100 years or more away. That
will be the time of the Great Bay of California as well. The islands of

Actually San Francisco has multiple high points that will be the Islands
of San Francisco for a while. It may even retreat South along the high
    points
of the Peninsula for a while. Eventually it will be overwhelmed and if foresight is
thought may retreat to the higher points of Northern California. The Peninsula
and the Golden Gate (which is not a bridge) will reappear after the next
    ice age
and the Golden Gate will feature a spectacular waterfall thousands of feet

    knowlege
of the fall of the Fire Wizards who brought disaster upon the world for
power and wealth by catering to the vast demands for convenience in

will be excavated and under many layers of silt wonderful works from
the time of the Fire Wizards will be revealed. Even the anchor points of
the ancient Golden Gate Bridge will be uncovered. Making or building

The monasteries will never let the folly of the Fire Wizards be forgotten

I know a great deal about the history, famous and infamous of
San Francisco. I live about 5 blocks West of Union Square for the last
52 years and used to walk past the shoreline markers down on Market
at First right into my 70s. I have lived in San Francisco since 1967,
before that in Sacramento and West Sacramento, Broderick and Bryte
on the West side of the Sacramento River in Yolo County. Other points
in Northern California and rural Fallon, Nevada. Before that rural
Northen California. My parents fed the workers at the Shasta Dam
project and my mother met my Step-father working on a sandwich
line for the same project. Dad died when i was 2 1/3 years old and
he and mom are buried at the Presideo.

We do not yet have a Gulf of California and its coastline will be defined
in coming centuries. No one, not even I, can imagine the political
    changes that
would result in the Gulf of Mexico being to the West of the Continent of
North America. The State of Texas is closer to your description of the oncoming
inundation which will engulf the Texas low lands. And Texas was once a
    Mexican
province until stolen by the land pirates to have a land where black
    chattel Slavery
    would be protected forever.
That was part of the original constitution of the Republic of Texas before it
was joined to the rest of the USA. Juneteenth is the celebration by
    darker skinned
people and their allies of the overthrow of that constitutional provision.
Without that California would not have enjoyed the long tenure of Willie
    Brown.

-a-a-a-aWe do not yet have a Gulf of California and its coastline will be defined
in coming centuries. No one, not even I, can imagine the political
    changes that
would result in the Gulf of Mexico being to the West of the Continent of North America. The State of Texas is closer to your description of the oncoming
inundation which will engulf the Texas low lands. And Texas was once a Mexican
province until stolen by the land pirates to have a land where black
    chattel Slavery
    would be protected forever.

The long bay between Baja California and the rest of Mexico is
currently named the 'Gulf of California'.

We do not yet have a Gulf of California

Check the name of the bay immediately east of Baja California.

And that is the business of Mexico not of the USA. It is not in California
and they, the government of Mexico can call it whatever they like.

It was named after the California that Mexico once owned. Before the
    USA took it over.
So it has historical associations. As does, of course, "Gulf of
Mexico". A lot of the coastline currently part of the USA used to be
part of Mexico. Or at least of Spain, of which Mexico was a
    possession.
