There were rumours that the BBC were in talks with Paramount
to bring "Doctor Who" to Paramount+... whether that would be
enough to keep your subscription going, or not, is another
matter.
Of course, it might also depend on if the rumours are true...
:-)
The latest rumour is that YouTube is the new partner for
Doctor Who.
BBC to make shows for YouTube in landmark new deal

Doctor Who's New Streaming Partner is... YouTube?!

The BBC making shows for YouTube is an interesting direction for
them, and probably a sensible one in the modern world. (Everyone
watches YouTube!!!) But I'm not sure they'd premier new episodes
of one of their [so called] flagship shows direct to YouTube on
release.
If they did, expect plenty of adverts!

I wonder how this sort of thing is going to impact those of us
who pay a monthly fee specifically to be ad-free on YouTube.
Will a new season of DOCTOR WHO suddenly become an "exception"
to our ad-free plan, where we'll have to sit through all the
ads even though we're paying to be ad-free?

The BBC haven't officially said that "Doctor Who" will be part of their recently announced streaming deal with YouTube... but should it happen,
I couldn't see the BBC giving new episodes of "Doctor Who" away for
free without there being some way of them getting revenue from it.
That's the whole point of the deal at the end of the day, to make money
for the BBC.
Maybe Google would pay the BBC based on the amount of their YouTube
Premium subscribers that watched the episodes for x amount of time,
without the need for ads for those people... and run adverts at the beginning of episodes like some other streaming services do for people
on the free tier.
Either way, it's good to see the BBC try and do something different...
I didn't have high expectations about Starfleet Academy when I sat down to >watch it, but boy... they somehow managed to take the bar, dig a trench >under it, and camp there. It transcends your stereotypical CW-type show
with characters so unbelievably bad, I'm not sure how this got greenlit.
So let's rip into it.
