    Just because a woman is an elderly spinster doesn't mean they
    are lesbian. I'm sure some were, and I'm sure the villages they
    lived in were a-buzz with the gossip about it too, but elderly
    spinsters are not uncommon. They normally get termed "mad cat
    ladies"... as they always have cats!

    ITV did give Miss Marple the background of an [already married]
    lover who was in the army and got killed in the war. That
    wasn't in the books though.

    The entertainment industry pretty much ALWAYS "tinkers" with the source material, even when it's a remake / reboot of an older TV series or
    movie. Most of the time it's simply because the over-egoed idiot in
    charge thinks they know better the the person who actually created the
    idea. :-\

    was 22 and another when she was 57.

    Mum and Dad both made it into the 80's so I'm hoping I've got at least
    10 more years to go .... but you never know!!

    At the moment I don't have any plans to go anywhere though.

    Chinese New Year this evening!!

    adaptations too... although I kind of liked Geraldine McEwan as
    Miss Marple in the first three series... not so much the woman
    that followed her in the remaining ones. (Julia McKenzie) By
    which time ITV were adapting non-Miss Marple Agatha Christie
    novels and inserting her into them... so they were not faithful
    to the original books anyway.
