Apparently it was all the "daily rushes", not just the actual released >versions of the movie.
"Got to give Paul Vanezis, Mark Ayres and everybody else involved
in this tons of plaudits for this. They really went above and
beyond for this release. Getting all 219 rolls of 35mm film
transferred from America to the uk for scanning. 37 hours of
rushes in total. All needing scanned and reassembled. Plus on
the audio side there is 92 1/4" tapes, A bunch of 8-track
digital DTRS cassettes, and DAT cassettes. Not counting the
8 x 2rC| 24-track tapes that were also digitised for this. This
has been a very expensive and time full endeavour. I'm very much
looking forward to ordering the 4k steelbook. There might not be
as much new features as I would like but with what they have done
I completely understand where the money is going on this."

Really? He didn't seem to have much to do in the TVM from what I
saw.
He was drinking tea in the TARDIS, arrived in San Francisco, got
shot, died, and then regenerated.
I doubt he got more than twenty minutes of screen time in a 90
minute movie.
He was only the appetiser for the main course.
But I suppose it was better than his performances in the TV
series that got Doctor Who cancelled... so maybe you're right.

Tennant has also gone publicly nuts on the trans issue. He transitioned

I can see how it would be very, very difficult for him to admit that he >badly hurt his own child.

What people do in their real life doesn't bother me too much.
These days most actors and other public figures seem to support
(or virtue signal) trendy causes and all that [air quote]
liberal sort of thing... the way I look at it, if they want to
act nuts, it's their life to go nuts with... unless it directly
affects me and my family, I couldn't give a toss. I'm sixty,
with my own children and grandchildren... I haven't the time to
be worrying about the families of strangers in another
country... especially rich and famous ones.
I liked David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor... well, until all
that "I don't want to go" stuff in "The End of Time". (Which I
actually blame on RTD, as he wrote it!) He was a much loved
Doctor, even by his companions! I've also liked a good few
things Tennant has been in since, including his "500 Miles"

No, I won't. As he has to take some responsibility. McCoy was
mis-cast and shouldn't have got anywhere near the role. The
general public knew nothing about what was going on behind the
scenes at the BBC, they stopped watching Doctor Who because on
the whole, the Seventh Doctor's era was awful!
The fact that even you claim his best performance was in the TVM
says it all!
How to fall after getting shot and how to lay on an operating
table sums up his job in that role! And you say that the TVM
"features Sylvester McCoy's best ever performance as the
Doctor". (And yes, that is an actual quote!) What does that say
about his three seasons on the show then? Not much clearly!

It was only a matter of time before Doctor Who was linked to
Jeffrey Epstein in some way. Well done for squeezing the topic
of the day into a Doctor Who discussion, you now have the
qualifications to become a journalist for Sky News.

It wasn't his TVM, he was only in it to regenerate... I doubt he
got twenty minutes of screen time, yet you think that was his
best performance as the Doctor. Which basically means the three
years he did on the show were not any of his best performances
then, doesn't it?
So yes, the Seventh Doctor's era was [generally] poor, it looked
shit, the audience stopped watching it... then the show got
cancelled. These are FACTS!
If the show was getting ratings above Coronation Street it
wouldn't have been cancelled, regardless of what anyone at the
BBC thought of the show personally. As it was, the ratings went
down the pan, the end was inevitable. Sylvester McCoy's
performances played a part in that. It wasn't the whole story,
but it was certainly a factor behind people not watching Doctor
Who.
But, he was great in the TVM... WELL, THAT'S ALRIGHT THEN!

They are all part of the same RTD making the Doctor emotional

fantasy on the TV, right?

It's not because of the Disney+ deal, it's more about David
Tennant's home life, more specifically his "non-binary" child.
Which, regardless of how they bring their children up or what
causes himself and his wife support, doesn't tarnish Tennant's
era as the Tenth Doctor... or the Tenth Doctor v 2.0.
The Doctor is a fictional character, David Tennant is a real
person. Two completely different things.

Mis-cast, mis-scripted, mis-directed, mis-produced.
Take your pick...
thought he was in a pantomime, acted accordingly...
as mis-directed!!
He was good enough for pantomime. I'd have no issue with him
being cast as the Widow Twankey in Aladdin... he'd play that
role fine. That sort of thing is well within his abilities.
Unfortunately, Doctor Who was not meant to be a pantomime show.
(Just in case JNT is looking down on us - OH NO IT ISN'T!)
and ultimately got the show cancelled. <shrugs>Yeap.
The public just didn't take to him, or the stories that he was
in.

Twinings is expensive, and there are better tasting teas out
there. Why would Irish consumers pay more for worse quality
tea?
maybe!!
Or maybe it's because Twinings is Polish/Chinese made crap, with
more dust than tea in the bags, being sold for an extortionately
high price because of its [once] famous name? !
I used to like Twinings Earl Grey tea until they changed the
blend a decade or so ago...

Hey, Aggy, I'm guessing that, like the rest of the posters here-abouts, you've brought a car sometime in the past.
Do you expect those manufactures/retailers to supply you with a new car every year?? Three years?? Five years?? Ten years??

I was thinking more when the bubble bursts still in the "ring-thingee"
and you get splashes of the mixture in your mouth ... although, when
they are very little, kids do tend to incorrectly suck air in instead
of blow it out. :-)
When it was a puppy, our dog used to love chasing bubbles around and
biting them, so it would have gotten a good taste of the mixture too.

I am not paying even -u60 for a blu-ray drive I cannot even use to play
4K discs, and I'm not spending many hundreds of pounds on a stand-alone
4K player which is no longer being made or supported by any major brand.
These tossers including the copyright bodies and studios collectively
killed off physical media because of the above.
I already have an external DVD usb drive and stand-alone player. If 4K >players were still being made I'd be willing to spend up to -u200 on one

state I am entitled to do by any means I choose.

It was out of character since The Stolen Earth/Journey's End

It wasn't said in the same way. The Tenth Doctor was whining
about it, it was just a quiet observation with the Ninth Doctor,

They are all part of the same RTD making the Doctor emotional

fantasy on the TV, right?
I'm getting all teary-eyed now just thinking about it...

I actually found it very strange! Doctors that are about to

it. The Tenth Doctor saying "I don't want to go" was out of
character.
It was out of character since The Stolen Earth/Journey's End
then.
It wasn't said in the same way. The Tenth Doctor was whining
about it, it was just a quiet observation with the Ninth Doctor,
who followed up by telling Rose that she was fantastic... and so

They are all part of the same RTD making the Doctor emotional
trope though... which just got worse when he came back to the
show. As we all need emotional drama with our dose of sci-fi and

I'm getting all teary-eyed now just thinking about it...
I've recently been watching some old Tom Baker stories and the modern

No one who watches science fiction gives a stuff about who the
companion's parents are or if they were adopted or what way they choose
to fuck. The companion is supposed to be you, and therefore their
parents are your parents, and that's why they were never discussed in
the original series. The Doctor is supposed to be someone you want to
aspire to be because of his intelligence, not because of who he sticks

The degenerate, disgusting, pervert RTD devoted a whole episode to
lecturing the audience about transgenderism. Compare that with the Big >Finish audio adventure which as also based on the Star Beast comic strip
and there's no lecturing there at all. It's all story and plot.
Also these degenerates have to include two or more stories in each
episode which are totally unconnected with each other and only one of
which deals with the actual plot, if there even is one. There was never
any of that in the original series where everything revolved about how
to deal with a specific situation and only that. Anything else was
totally irrelevant. Sutekh was about to destroy the world and the object
was to find ways to stop him until the Doctor and Sarah Jane found one
which worked. Sutekh was concerned with getting himself released from >captivity and was willing to let the Doctor and Sarah Jane live rather
than waste resources on killing them which were needed to build his
missile launcher.
Why would anyone watching give a fuck about who RubyrCOs parents were? Why >would Sutekh give a fuck about them? Fucking shit inserted because the >pervert Davies can't write and wants to create fake emotional moments.

Hey, Aggy, I'm guessing that, like the rest of the posters here-
abouts, you've brought a car sometime in the past.

Well, he is silly enough to do things the stupid way, so him expensively
leasing a car wouldn't be that much of a surprise.-a :-)
If someone buys a car then they own it. The registration papers are put
in their name. The same goes for buying a house, or a horse, or a
toaster. When they buy a CD, or a DVD, or a VHS tape, or even a digital >download, apparently they don't own it at all. Read the sleeve or edge
of the disc. They only have the right to watch or listen to it, so it's
not the same issue.

I got an external DVD-burner for my computer a few years ago. I didn't
bother with Blu-ray at that time because they were a lot more expensive
and I didn't have any Blu-ray disks to play anyway.
I think at this point the drives will play everything, and the 4K

The CPU instructions which are needed to enable 4K playback were never included in any AMD CPU and Intel removed them from its CPUs after the

After that the arse licking manufacturers all replaced the firmware that could be hacked to rip 4K discs with encrypted firmware which couldn't. Therefore it is impossible to play or even rip 4K blu-rays in order to

IMO, the hour-long format does warrant having a B story. It
doesn't have to be about the companions' personal lives,
though. The classic show sometimes had a B story about the
characters being encountered -- maybe the gang would foil a
monster and also two star-crossed lovers would get together.
It's not an hour really though, generally Doctor Who episodes
now are only around 44 minutes long. Which is basically less
than two old episodes from the Tom Baker era. Special episodes
can be a bit longer but then they are called special for a
reason.
A B story where the companion gets separated from the Doctor and
has their own mini-adventure was the standard trope from the
classic era of the show. The Doctor goes one way and meets X,
the companion goes another and meets Y...

When something did happen with the companions, it was usually a surprise marriage to explain a departure. That was silly, so it's probably just
as well that they didn't bring it back for the modern era. If it had
been me, though, I would have stayed with the underlying idea that
traveling with the Doctor is a phase of life, not a life. Some return to their prior lives and some make new lives, but none travel with him throughout their lives.

modern stuff is absolute shit in comparison.
Now there's a sentence from you that I can agree with 100%!
All that perverts like Davies, Moffat, and Chibnall can write
about is sex and gender identity, and they keep having to add
stupid and pointless fake emotional moments rather than
writing scenes that a scary or having the characters discuss
the issues that the plot is actually supposed to be about and
just stick to those. They don't have the remotest clue how to
write a science fiction story, or any kind of story in fact.
Television drama might need some emotion to keep people engaged,
life experiences, romance, etc. for me sci-fi/fantasy doesn't.
It's the escapism that draws people, children especially, into
sci-fi in the first place. We want strange worlds, alien beings,
real exciting adventures... not companions falling in love with
the Doctor, or discussing their life with their Mum over a bowl
of corn flakes...
No one who watches science fiction gives a stuff about who the
companion's parents are or if they were adopted or what way
they choose to fuck. The companion is supposed to be you, and
therefore their parents are your parents, and that's why they
were never discussed in the original series. The Doctor is
supposed to be someone you want to aspire to be because of his
intelligence, not because of who he sticks his cock in.
When Rose came along, when the show returned in 2005, it was
different to see the companion grounded in some sort of real
life shown in episodes.. a Mum, a boyfriend, a boring job...
then it carried on and on and the Doctor Who producers thought
they were making a soap opera and it had to all be about the
companion. It worked for a while, then it got tiring as the show
lost its focus.
The degenerate, disgusting, pervert RTD devoted a whole
episode to lecturing the audience about transgenderism.
Compare that with the Big Finish audio adventure which as also
based on the Star Beast comic strip and there's no lecturing
there at all. It's all story and plot.
The Big Finish "Star Beast" audio adaptation was quite good,
wasn't it?
Also these degenerates have to include two or more stories in
each episode which are totally unconnected with each other and
only one of which deals with the actual plot, if there even is
one. There was never any of that in the original series where
everything revolved about how to deal with a specific
situation and only that. Anything else was totally irrelevant.
Sutekh was about to destroy the world and the object was to
find ways to stop him until the Doctor and Sarah Jane found
one which worked. Sutekh was concerned with getting himself
released from captivity and was willing to let the Doctor and
Sarah Jane live rather than waste resources on killing them
which were needed to build his missile launcher.
Why would anyone watching give a fuck about who RubyrCOs parents
were? Why would Sutekh give a fuck about them? Fucking shit
inserted because the pervert Davies can't write and wants to
create fake emotional moments. The emotional moments in the
original story were ones of terror and fear when Sarah Jane
thought the Doctor Was dead or she was being chased or
attacked by a mummy, or taken hostage.
Who gave a fuck about Yaz's relationship with Whittaker? What
did it have to do with science fiction? What did Graham having
cancers have to do with anything? Whittaker didn't even take
him to New Earth to find a cure. These imbeciles who purport
to be writers don't any ideas so they pad out each episode
with absolute crap.
In the original series each 25 minute episode always had a big
cliffhanger at the end and a mini-cliffhanger in the middle.
Where are they in the new series? Instead we get told that we
are all bad and the perverts are the good guys. In the
original series it was just the villains who were bad, not the
audience. The audience knew what was morally right and they
were never told they it wasn't.
Doctor Who is not a soap opera... the next Executive Producer
needs to understand that and get back to basics... make it about
the Doctor and his adventures in time and space first and
foremost... if you need to have a companion, make them an alien
or something more interesting than a side-character from
Coronation Street.

Yep, it iscomplete nonsense, as usual by the village idiot. Standard
Windows OS stopped supporting Blu-ray, but there are other third party Blu-ray player apps around.
-a-a "Windows Media Player does not support Blu-ray discs. If you
-a-a-a would like to play a Blu-ray movie on your Windows PC or
-a-a-a laptop, you will need to download a Blu-ray player for
-a-a-a Windows 11, such as PowerDVD."
Apple never suported Blu-ray discs in MacOS, but again there are third
party player apps around that let you easily watch them.
It cerainly has absolutely nothing to do with the CPUs - whether that's Intel, AMD, Apple Silicon, or anything else.
No, I mean a B story about the characters they encountered. One example would be the love story of Astra and Merak in The Armageddon Factor.
I thought of that one but it was justified as part of the main plot by
the agent of the Black Guardian separating them and (spoilers) the fact
that Princess Astra was the 6th segment of the Key to Time (as if
everyone didn't already figure that out from the first episode) so
leaving her that way would mean they could never be together again. Everything to do with Astra is in fact the A story. Similarly Leela and Andred was also justified as part of the main plot of The Invasion of
Time since she needed his help to help the Doctor.
In comparison in the modern crap the B stories such as Yasmin and
Whittaker or Graham's cancer fears have absolutely nothing to do with
the plot whatsoever.

real exciting adventures... not companions falling in love with
the Doctor, or discussing their life with their Mum over a bowl
of corn flakes...
With the Doctor baring his naked arse towards them...
It worked for just one episode and then they kept going back to it over
and over and over again, and doing it with Marthe too, and then Donna.
And then the morons decided to make the companion special and the chosen
one and it got even worse.
The degenerate, disgusting, pervert RTD devoted a whole
episode to lecturing the audience about transgenderism.
Compare that with the Big Finish audio adventure which as also
based on the Star Beast comic strip and there's no lecturing
there at all. It's all story and plot.
The Big Finish "Star Beast" audio adaptation was quite good,
wasn't it?
Yes. Because back in 1980/1 writers could actually write.
Doctor Who is not a soap opera... the next Executive Producer
needs to understand that and get back to basics... make it about
the Doctor and his adventures in time and space first and
It needs to be about the adventures alone. The Doctor is just there to
get us to where they take place and experience them.
No one asked for the Doctor to be turned into a genocidal monster from >another dimension created from a physically abused child.
foremost... if you need to have a companion, make them an alien
or something more interesting than a side-character from
Coronation Street.
Moffat should have gone for Victorian Clara not the modern one which was
not very likeable, especially after she because to attack and insult the >Doctor because he was a man and was made out to be another chosen one.
The companion needs to be an ordinary person, with nothing special about >them, so that everyone watching can feel included.

No, I mean a B story about the characters they encountered. One example
would be the love story of Astra and Merak in The Armageddon Factor.
I thought of that one but it was justified as part of the main plot by
the agent of the Black Guardian separating them and (spoilers) the fact
that Princess Astra was the 6th segment of the Key to Time (as if
everyone didn't already figure that out from the first episode) so

In comparison in the modern crap the B stories such as Yasmin and
Whittaker or Graham's cancer fears have absolutely nothing to do with
the plot whatsoever. Chibnall, Moffat, and Davies don't have the
remotest clue how to write a story. They add in mind numbing soap-opera >because they can't think of plot based ideas to fill an episode with.

Rose? It has absolutely nothing to do with the plot of the Star Beast so >there is no need for it to be there.

These moronic modern writers don't have the faintest clue how to writer.
AI can do their job better than they can.

server Russia's interests. Bond falling in love with Vesper Lynd is the
B story but unlike the crap Davies and co. come up with, it's fully >interconnected with the plot of the main story and provides the means by >which Bond ends up being strapped to a chair with the seat cut out and >having his arse and balls whacked with a carpet beater. It's not trivial >shit so that Davies can lecture us about transgenderism which has
absolutely nothing to do with the plot. While proving Fleming's
arguments while women should not be field agents, Bond has to suffer the >consequences through his hero's journey in order for that assertion to
be justified. There's no justification or hero's journey in attacking >Tennant for being a male presenting Time Lord and none of it has

In the original series each 25 minute episode always had a big
cliffhanger at the end and a mini-cliffhanger in the middle.

Similarly Leela and
Andred was also justified as part of the main plot of The Invasion of
Time since she needed his help to help the Doctor.
When it's done well, the A and B stories tie together. The Simpsons
invented a rule that the B story had to kick off from the A story --
therefore, not meanwhile.
In comparison in the modern crap the B stories such as Yasmin and
Whittaker or Graham's cancer fears have absolutely nothing to do with
the plot whatsoever.
I don't like the modern era much either, which is why I've stopped
watching. I stopped watching in the middle of the Capaldi era. I'm not
sure where my head canon ends.
I'm starting to think either with the last Sylvester McCoy series or the >Paul McGann TVM. After the Doctor was turned into the Timeless Child
monster and RTD quadrupled down on it the whole of the new series can go
and f*k itself.

Now there's a sentence from you that I can agree with 100%!
All that perverts like Davies, Moffat, and Chibnall can write
about is sex and gender identity, and they keep having to add
stupid and pointless fake emotional moments rather than
writing scenes that a scary or having the characters discuss
the issues that the plot is actually supposed to be about and

life experiences, romance, etc. for me sci-fi/fantasy doesn't.
They need to learn from H G Wells. Science fiction is about new
experiences that cannot be found elsewhere, not about something people
already know and perceive.
It's the escapism that draws people, children especially, into
sci-fi in the first place. We want strange worlds, alien beings,
RTD isn't interested in that. He just wants to sexually groom them to
become gay.
real exciting adventures... not companions falling in love with
the Doctor, or discussing their life with their Mum over a bowl

With the Doctor baring his naked arse towards them...
No one who watches science fiction gives a stuff about who the

they choose to fuck. The companion is supposed to be you, and
therefore their parents are your parents, and that's why they
were never discussed in the original series. The Doctor is

Apple never suported Blu-ray discs in MacOS, but again there are third

No, but I was at my mother's home recently, trying to help her. I had to

Adric was definitely an arrogant know-it-all... he was a
mathematical genius that loved showing off his talents to

immature way trying to impress him, but it grated with a lot

There's nothing wrong with emotions in some dramas on TV, sci-fi
doesn't need it though. That's the problem with the RTD's of
this world, who write other stuff, they can't differentiate.
They think everything needs to be written the same way... so
"Doctor Who" gets the emotional drama and social messaging that
a gay drama set in Brighton gets. As far as TV shows go, they
are chalk and cheese. That's why "Doctor Who" has missed the
mark in the last few years, episodes have been pushing
progressive politics over storytelling, and viewers have
switched off.

This does seem like a reasonable cutoff point. The classic

have to be the future of the classic show.
In tone they are virtually two different shows but I've been
happy enough to consider everything from 1963-2025 as one show...
In hindsight, it's the classic era of the show that is important
to me. I could re-watch those episodes over and over again... in
fact, I have done. Yet there's only about five or six post-2005
episodes of Doctor Who that stand up to multiple viewing. (IMO
of course.) With episodes now, once seen soon forgotten.
Cutoff points outside show boundaries are harder to justify.
Technically we don't need to justify anything, our head-canon is
our own so we can include and exclude anything we want to. The
Doctor Who Canon Police are not going to come knocking at our
door to take us away if we have different opinions on it! :)

No, but I was at my mother's home recently, trying to help
her. I had to bail out. She simply refuses to get rid of
anything "good," even if it's half a century old and of no
conceivable use, and it's impossible to maintain any kind of
sanitary standard or normal life while living in that
environment.
from teaching 7 years prior to her death, she still had her
entire professional library and materials from her
classroom...much of which was out of date. She even had a set
of McGuffy Readers (ie. See Dick run. Run Dick run.). Now
those I kept because even though they haven't been used in
schools for decades they are considered a collector's item and
Teachers' Colleges would kill for a complete set for
historical reasons. Add in the fact that my mom moved from
the 4 bedroom, 2600 sq. ft. house I grew up in, to a house
exactly half that size...and didn't throw anything out. Her
two car garage in the new home was packed to the gills with
all of her things. Took me and my sister about 6 months to
clear all of that out after mom died.
So what ye are saying is, keeping a load of stuff that will be
deemed garbage at some time in the future is perfectly normal?
That's good so... I feel a lot better now...

This does seem like a reasonable cutoff point. The classic
show is the history of the new show, but the new show doesn't
have to be the future of the classic show.

Not sure either, but it seems a bit of a trope. (One that I'd
never even thought about until Melissa mentioned it.)

That's huge. There's a big difference between having more stuff than
your kids think is normal and having so much junk everywhere that
there's no way to maintain basic sanitation.

The thrift shop would be the option for your inheritors to get rid of
your "old junk" without just binning it. :-)
There are of course numerous other charity / thrift / op shops. Here in
New Zealand we have the SPCA, Hospice, St John, City Mission, Red
Cross, as well as Salvation Army and many smaller charity organsiations
and churches.

Who knows what they'll do with it? It'll be their choice.
My money is still on 'the bin' though...

I'd choose the bin before any religious organisation myself...
but when I'm gone I won't be around to care... so they can
do what they want with it all.
By then, maybe my old tat might be back in vogue and they might
even get some cash for it all?

Speaking of 'the bin', with my Salvation Army Thrift Shop, they sort the >stuff before it goes out into the shop ... and then they get paid, I
think, $0.10 per Kg of 'rags'.

Me too, but the first three aren't religious organisations.
The SPCA is the animal charity.
Hospice are the care centres for terminally ill people (some are run by >churches while others aren't).
St John (despite the religious name) runs the only national ambulance >service, provides on-site medical staff for events, etc. Stupidly this >service is not government-funded in New Zealand, so relies on donations.

The other option is to stipulate in your will that your belongings
(maybe including house, car, etc.) have to be sold at auction and the
money goes to wherever you want - whether that is your family and / or
a charitable organisation of your choice.
