How Tolkien Disguised Ice-Age Europe as Middle-Earth
<https://thesaxoncross.substack.com/p/tolkien-ice-age-europe-and-middle>
Interestingly, that article puts the "Bay of Belfast" in the middle of the >Mediterranean Sea. Is it possible that this might be a typo for the "Bay
of Belfalas"? Maybe the text was auto-corrected (for some value of >"corrected").
Even Homer was known to nod at times.
Somewhere in HOME there is a note on the back of something unrelated
to it listing the time that various father/son pairs from a novel he
was working on but never finished had lived in stating that the 4th
Age was pre-Ice Age. Whether the author of the article was aware of
this is unclear.
(The pairs all involved names with the same meanings [one for the
fathers, one for the sons] and a dream of a Really Big Wave. IIRC, of
course.)
