Hannah-Barbera is owned by Warner Bros., so I guess technically does
come under "alt.animation.warner-bros".
The Huckleberry Hound Show - The Complete Series Blu-ray Review:
Classic Cartoon Restored
----------------------------------------------------------------
All four seasons of The Huckleberry Hound Show are now available
on Blu-ray with the new Complete Series release. Comprised of
11 discs, Warner Archive has done a great job restoring the show
and its original bumpers. Whether you are looking forward to
seeing Yogi Bear's beginnings or Huck's hilarious antics,
there's a lot to love here.
"Rediscover one of the most beloved good ol' hound dogs ever in
this comprehensive anthology of Hanna-Barbera's landmark animated
series The Huckleberry Hound Show. This complete collection
presents all 68 half-hour episodes - following studio broadcast
records as a guide - as originally aired during the series' four
seasons on television. Meticulously restored from 4K scans of
original 35mm negatives, everyone's favorite blue hound dog never
looked better," says the official description.
"The cool canine charmed early TV audiences with his unique
personality, a slow southern drawl, and fast wit that'll win over
audiences of all ages. Viewers also got familiar with Pixie and
Dixie (and nemesis Mr. Jinks the cat, who hated meeses to pieces)
and future icons Yogi Bear and sidekick Boo Boo, as well as later
shows which introduced the irrepressible Hokey Wolf, all of whom
starred in their own segments. To faithfully present these
episodes as originally aired, you'll note each show contains
original bumpers and bridges, as well as rarely seen vintage
commercials featuring the characters from the series. A timeless
tribute to the talents at Hanna-Barbera, including voice artists
Daws Butler and Don Messick, this new collection enables you to
experience the adventures of Huck, Yogi, and their pals just as
they first burst on the television scene decades ago, proving
that their animated hijinks remain as clever and entertaining as
ever."

I have a lot of great memories of watching The Huckleberry Hound
Show as a child, and it's great to revisit these cartoons in such
a wonderful form. Everything from commercials featuring the
characters to bumpers has been restored, and the show has never
looked better (with the exception of the Season 1 end credit
sequence, which sadly didn't have the original negative). The
cartoons look wonderful, which allows you to fully enjoy the
humor and the historical significance of the show as it
introduced Yogi Bear and Boo Boo to the world. There are 68
episodes in total, and voice actor Daws Butler never fails to
charm with his performance as Huck.
The Huckleberry Hound Show - The Complete Series Blu-ray comes in
a great outer case that holds three separate Blu-ray cases that
hold 11 discs. Episode lists are available, too, so it's easy to
track down particular episodes. There's not a ton of bonus
content, but the final disc of the collection does include three
featurettes: a five-minute video of a linguistics expert talking
about Huck's speech, a 13-minute tribute to voice actor Daws
Butler, and a quick music video featuring some of Huckleberry
Hound's best quotes.
The Huckleberry Hound Show - The Complete Series Blu-ray Review:
Final Verdict
The Huckleberry Hound Show - The Complete Series Blu-ray gets our
highest recommendation for fans of classic cartoons. Not only has
the source material aged well, but it is historically significant
as well. Wonderfully restored and presented with a ton of respect,
this is a great collection of a wonderful show.
