Many in Bangladesh are mourning the accidental death of much-beloved
local musician Zubeen Garg <
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/10/3/zubeen-was-for-all-singers-death-unites-indias-religiously-torn-assam>.
Though (technically) a Hindu himself, his music was beloved by both
Hindus and Muslims alike, and derived from both their cultures. Though
born into the Brahmin caste, he repudiated the divisiveness of
religion, in favour of the essential unity of all humanity:
In an undated video now viral after his death, a person on stage
is seen teasing Garg for not wearing the sacred thread worn by
other Brahmins, who sit at the top of HinduismrCOs complex caste
hierarchy.
Garg shot back, saying, rCLI am just a human. I have no caste, no
religion, and no God.rCY
I am sure he would have related to that John Lennon line: rCLImagine
thererCys no heaven ...rCY
