• Parliamentary rules: the Maori party is exempt it seems

    From Crash@nogood@dontbother.invalid to nz.general on Thu Oct 9 21:16:19 2025

    So Oriini Kaipara demonstrates:

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360848861/new-te-pati-maori-mp-oriini-kaipara-delivers-first-speech-mp

It is farcical when an MP ignores the rules of Parliament and this
goes unsanctioned. Mr Speaker is made to look like a clown. MPs who
break the rules should have their microphone turned off and Mr Speaker
should stand up to them with his microphone on.

Coupled with a Police presence to deal with disruption from the public
gallery, order would be restored swiftly and everyone reminded of who
    is in charge.

    It is a disgrace.
If I did not obey the protocols on a Marae there would be hell to pay and rightly so, and yet these idiots think they can abuse the Tikanga that exists within parliament.
Throw them out for a day every time they do this.

Perhaps the Maori Party limits recognition of tikanga as applying only
in Maori venues - which Parliament is not.

Perhaps they do. However the principle of good behaviour still applies.

In The Speakers defence, he suspended the House,"... but Brownlee did so after saying he did not think there was going to be haka as well as waiata tautoko to following KaipararCOs maiden speech."

What the Speaker failed to do was carry on and get Kaipara removed from the House.

We also have the case of this fellow who seems to need some education of
what the potocols are for Parliament.

Precisely, the punishment should be Biblical, to prevent a recurrence.

You seem to think your Christian Bible sets some kind of standard for fear

You have no ability to understand Willy's post so you change the subject. Yawn is right.
