So Jackson and Walsh own the building that the Chocolate Fish is in,
and it appears that the owners of the Chocolate Fish cafe have to move
out by the end of January. However the reader has to work hard to
discover any of this.
The headline implies that Jackson/Walsh own the Chocolate Fish cafe,
as only the owners can decide to close it down. However they are not
the owners - that is John and Penny Pennington. Reading between the
lines the Penningtons lease the building occupied by their business
and the building owners (Jackson/Walsh) are not offering a lease
renewal.
Certainly the Chocolate Fish is a fixture in Shelley Bay and there is
probably no suitable building nearby to relocate to. The Penningtons
may well consider relocation elsewhere in Wellington as too
expensive/risky. None of this is mentioned. If I were still in
Wellington I would be hoping that the Penningtons would consider
relocating to anywhere on the Peninsular or in 'South' Wellington.
The failure to cover all this is astounding. The headline is
misleading (unless Jackson/Walsh own the Chocolate Fish cafe). Such
sloppiness should never have been published - the writer should have
been told to come back when they have finished writing the article.
