Yep. I've been trying to explain the benefits of using a a real
newsreader to someone else today but it seems to go right past them.
But, as the developer of the software running on NovaBBS, I'm way more concerned that there appear to be two spaces TWO! between '2 years' and
'4 months'. This is the most critical issue of the moment!
I assume poster means clearly, that back in time even dedicated software
was not so easy to use and not so friendly than today even some web
front-end. So he did not even need to use Thunderbird, but just open the
web, which has some advantage over GUI client, as it's server side, so
one get the same experience from anywhere.
