    Illuminant - A NNTP-based Fediverse Server

    This is cool.

It is a Fediverse server you can use with a newsreader client like Thunderbird.

well, the only one I have seen using it so far was the programmer
himself. I feel like it might not play to the strengths of either nntp
or the fediverse. But I haven't gotten around to actually try it out.

IrCOm not even sure *how* anyone without an account on the server already could begin to try it out. I, too, am not sure the gateway functions like
any Usenet user would expect. To my thinking, the rCLgroupsrCY should be based on hashtags, not the userrCOs info. But I suppose that does properly reflect the one dimensional nature of social media.

How about the other way around, surfacing usenet
    onto these aggregators/distributors?

Better enlarge the moat between global noise and Usenet and please don't
forget to add poisonous snakes and alligators! o;-)

social media is moderated . . . seems doubtful any of them could tolerate unmoderated usenet newsgroups, unless their news feeds were restricted to
the several "triggerhappy" servers that routinely issue and accept nocems, cancels, etc. (bleachbot, usenet.ovh, e-s, pasdenom, chmurka) in order to impose their own fiats of newsgroup moderation in lieu of free expression

far worse is the usenet troll farm, which would devour these social media
buffs without pity or mercy . . . unmoderated usenet is an acquired skill

IrCOm about as interested in social media leeches as I am in rCLAIrCY leeches.
If Google Groups taught us anything, itrCOs that people who are only interested in picking UsenetrCOs bones clean should *not* be thought of as friends.
