    Fairly standard source-based update (that I've done for years). I need
    to head to a meeting soon, so I haven't much time just now. I will try
    to put relevant info up at catwhisker.org, but that won't be for a dfew hours, I expect.

    The system came up after the reboot long enough for me to login via xdm
    (this was on a laptop) and start copying data from the build to the
    history I keep, but died as it was copying the 3rd file.
