An Everett man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges he threatened to kill the president in a series of social media posts, according to court documents.
Phillip Richard Wharton, 20, is charged with two counts of threatening a federal official in the Western District of Washington.
The indictment was filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Seattle.
According to the indictment, the first alleged threat was posted Aug. 19, 2025, on a social media account along with a photograph and the text:
-oWhat the guy in the White House sees after I kill the US PRESIDENT OF
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICAN AND WEAR HIS FACE AS A MASK.-o
The second count stems from a Sept. 23, 2025 post that read: -oMy name is Sadie Online. I am going to kill the president tomorrow. This is not a
joke, but a confession admissible in a court of law."
