• !Boot issue with Reporter

    From Newsgroup: comp.sys.acorn.misc

Testing the !Boot program with !Reporter on ARMX6 fails to run into the
desktop at its default resolution (1920 x 1080). It reports an error:
Filing system SCSI: must be given a filename 640.

SSD check with !DiscKnight states disc is OK.

Any thoughts as to what this means please?

    Richard

See you! Report at the time of! Boot, initialization is not over and the desktop has not yet started!

I may not understand your problem ....

It means that the command issued just before the error caused the
error - possibly because a variable has been used which is not set
correctly. What is that command? You may then have to work out what
issued that command wrongly, and why.

If no commands are Reported at all, then use Reporter Menu -> Config
Options and select Report OS Commands executed and with Source,
and ensure Obey Only is NOT selected. Then click Save, and the next
re-boot should list lots of commands.

Would you do the honours Martin or anyone familiar with !Reporter
using Pinboard2 (V2.07) on an ARMX6 test their Boot sequence by
running it setting the following Configuration..

    Click Default

Startup: 1000KBytes. Use remaining default values.

Options: Ensure 'General Reporting'is unticked. Check 'Report OS
Commands executed' with Time and Source are ticked. Check 'Report
    Errors raised' are ticked.

Boot Report: Tick 'Start Reporter at start of Boot sequence'. Tick
third Report option 'First and last of PreDesk directories'.

    Click Save and reboot machine

Check if errors occur under the dark blue heading...
    [WindowManager] Obey SCSI::SSD.$.!Boot.Choices.Boot.Tasks.Pinboard

    I get a message "Expansion too complex" and a resolution of 1280 x 800
instead of 1920 x 1080. !Reporter displays numerous errors.

This test needs running on an ARMX6 running RO 5.31 (21-Jul-24)

You can just drop this file on !Edit, it is a human readable file,

X meaning to ignore any errors (often caused by the Pinned file not being found yet/missing)

Screen resolution is not controlled by Pinboard2 that I am aware of.

If the boot sequence crashes out due to an error in Pinboard2, you may not
get the mode that you configured. It depends on the order that things are
being run, and if the error occurs before things get to the screen configuration.

Without actually seeing the full logs of what Richard is reporting, it's
hard to be definite on any of this, however (and no, I'm not offering).

Chris my computer seems to be running fine in normal operation.

I like to occasionally check the !Boot program is running properly so
I use !Reporter in 'start boot mode' to check it - what this does is
give me a reference as to how the !Boot program is performing so if I

I'm only seeing these issues when running !Reporter on the ARMX6 under
