• The Supreme Power of GNU/Linux

    Greetings GNU/Linux enthusiasts. I bring very good news concerning
    the supreme power of GNU/Linux.

    Perhaps the most formidable and respected engineering/mathematics
    software in the world, with a hefty price tag to match, is Matlab:

    <https://www.mathworks.com/products/matlab.html>

    How does the humble GNU/Linux software measure up to this commercial
    giant?

    I happen to possess an advanced degree in mathematics from Columbia
    University in NYC and so I know exactly what the fuck I am doing.

    Although I will omit the gruesome details, I numerically solved a
    complex system of coupled differential equations using both Matlab
    (yes I can afford it) and the open-source GNU Scientific Library:

    <https://www.gnu.org/software/gsl/>

    What are the results?

    Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! The results are EXACTLY
    the FUCKING SAME.

    I have posted the data for each software as a LibreOffice Calc
    spreadsheets here:

    <https://ufile.io/f/w1v0a>

    Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! Right down to the 16th fucking
    decimal place the data is EXACTLY IDENTICAL.

    Because the website files will persist only for 30 days I have also
    uploaded them to my personal Usenet group:

    alt.binaries.multimedia.transformation

    <189577ee7286c8cd$20562$1308711$802601b3@news.usenetexpress.com>

    <189577f7856c427c$1530$1703787$802601b3@news.usenetexpress.com>

    In the more than obvious conclusion:

    What kind of fucking idiot would ever bother with Matlab when GNU GSL
    is equally potent?

    Once again, the supreme power of FOSS, made by men of freedom and not
    overpaid commercial lackeys, is plainly revealed.

    Liar.

    At best you have a degree in EE from Wayne State University, a mediocre commuter school.

    I numerically solved

    heh!

    a complex system of coupled differential
    equations using both Matlab (yes I can afford it)

    It's not expensive for hobbyists and students. But you stole it anyway.

    What kind of fucking idiot would ever bother with Matlab when GNU GSL
    is equally potent?

    The WHOLE WORLD. I've NEVER seen the GSL mentioned in any math or CS
    courses in the 200+ CS curriculums I looked at. Not once.

    But Matlab is used at practically every 5th school, and in dozens of
    math and engineering and CS courses I came across.

    Mathworks (developer of Matlab) 2025 revenue: $1,500,000,000

    As for being "equally potent": spare me. GSL is just a library
    (apparently a good one), while Matlab contains the same library
    functions, plus a shit-ton of GUI/graphing/scripting functionality.

    https://www.gnu.org/software/gsl/ https://www.mathworks.com/products/matlab.html

    GuhNoo GSL cannot compete with Matlab.

    Your brokeassedness and envy just screams through in every one of your
    stupid "GuhNoo vs commercial app" comparisons.

    Once again, the supreme power of FOSS, made by men of freedom and not overpaid commercial lackeys

    You want nothing more than to be an overpaid lackey, but you're a bust
    at work and life, so all you can do is fantasize and lie.

    Lies from the left side of your loser piehole:

    "SolidWorks costs $4000.00 USD. But with the big bucks I earn with
    GNU/Linux that's, for me, less than a second cup of coffee."

    "I am a highly sought after and highly paid consultant, and I
    do it all with GNU/Linux (what else)."

    "The DOD needed to determine some geodesics for some
    hypersonic cruise missile or something...The DoD got their answer
    and I got my $50K."

    And reality from the right side of your broke, thieving piehole:

    "Only a total dunce actually "donates" to the grubbing commercial
    world. ALL software is F--R--E--E."

    "I get my Microslop Orifice, including the very latest, for $0.00."

    "All software is free, whether these corporate degenerates like it or
    not."

    As always: you suck.

    There certainly is no reason to take him at his word.

    I haven't worked with any of this shit, but I tend to think the
    commercial product would have some meaningful advantages.

    Software piracy is self-destructive, ultimately, it can lead to malware infestation, it can mean features are broken, upgrades blocked, yada yada.

    As always: you suck.

    He does, but then, who's perfect?

    No but SciLab or Octave can get it a run for its money.
