Updating Fedora 43 to 6.18.4 at the moment. They finally got off the 6.17 wagon. I haven't gotten to the Arch box yet but I assume it will go from 6.18.3 to 6.18.4 too. It's killing my uptime :(

I updated my Debian 13 Cinammon yesterday. It was 177 packages including
kernel and some large ones like LibreOffice.

It took less than 5 minutes complete.

    pothead@999999:~$ uname -a
    Linux weed 6.12.63+deb13-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.12.63-1 (2025-12-30) x86_64 GNU/Linux

    pothead@999999:~$ sudo apt update
    [sudo] password for pothead:
    Get:1 http://deb.debian.org/debian trixie InRelease [140 kB]
    Get:2 http://deb.debian.org/debian trixie-updates InRelease [47.3 kB]
    Hit:3 http://security.debian.org/debian-security trixie-security InRelease Get:4 http://deb.debian.org/debian trixie/main Sources [10.5 MB]
    Get:5 http://deb.debian.org/debian trixie/main amd64 Packages [9,670 kB]
    Get:6 http://deb.debian.org/debian trixie/main Translation-en [6,484 kB] Fetched 26.9 MB in 4s (6,941 kB/s)
177 packages can be upgraded. Run 'apt list --upgradable' to see them.
Notice: Repository 'http://deb.debian.org/debian trixie InRelease' changed its 'Version' value from '13.2' to '13.3'

I ran apt upgrade and in less than 5 minutes it was all complete.

So what do you actually *do* with your hot new kernel?

Do you sit for 2 days and 16 minutes staring at the blinkenlights?

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

Fedora was having issues yesterday. 229 out of 230 packages, no problem.
The kernel-modules timed out on six different mirrors.

    Arch went smoothly.
