Another YouTube anti Windows 11 "rant." The reason I post is because he read the Nadella crap about how we need to "get over" calling AI "slop." I'm
almost positive that post was written by AI because it sounds like an infomercial, it's redundant and it's about as clear as mud.

    The "rant" video...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uf25dxikF1o

    The Nadella AI crap post...

    https://snscratchpad.com/posts/looking-ahead-2026/?v=1

I'll just quote one paragraph. (If Nadella actually wrote this crap, he's
part of the "garbage in" in the AI process.)

And lastly, we need to make deliberate choices on how we diffuse this
technology in the world as a solution to the challenges of people and
planet. For AI to have societal permission it must have real world eval
impact. The choices we make about where we apply our scarce energy,
compute, and talent resources will matter. This is the socio-technical
issue we need to build consensus around.

As the "ranter" says in the video, "just sell a product people want, it's
not your job to 'change the world.'" These rich billionaires sure are full
of themselves. They actually think they *should* tell other people how to live. Dumb sons of bitches.

I love the contradiction: we will force artificial intelligence on
everyone, which requires us to create more nuclear power plants because
of the amount of resources it uses, as a solution to our scarce energy
    and resources.

that Co-Pilot is a failure with users. She corrected me and said that companies are all going to a company they trust for AI, and that is
Microsoft. Apparently, in the financial field at least, Co-Pilot is a tremendous success even if it isn't with general users. Meanwhile,
Microsoft is increasingly ignoring the general user in favour of business
ones and making tremendous profits. Considering that, it only makes sense
that home users who want to be catered to move to Apple. Those who don't

I don't know how well Microslop is doing with Windows 11. From December 2024 to December 2025 they lost 9% of their market share in the United States. It dropped from 68% to 59%. Meanwhile "unknown" rose from 3% to 7.5%. And Linux rose to over 5%, from a little over 4%. MacOS and OSX (combined) rose from a little under 21% to over 24%. Another year like this and Windows will have dropped below 50% market share in the U.S. In December, 2009 they were at 86.5%. With few exceptions it's been fairly steadily downward ever since. Apple has also dropped from a high of about 34% in June, 2023.

I guess we'll see what happens in the next few months.

I still wonder what "unknown" is in these charts.

Admittedly, I can't imagine what "unknown" is either unless it's Linux but
the people are running through browsers that don't identify what kind of system they're running on. It doesn't even matter. What does matter is
that Microsoft has really turned on its users to a point that they might indeed take a look at Linux, if only to hold onto the hardware they bought
in 2018 for a little bit longer. Others will turn to it because they hate
AI whereas others will turn to the Mac because they simply don't like
Windows in general. A few will probably buy new Windows 11-capable
computers to play some multiplayer games which require them to install the anti-cheat systems which only work on Windows, but those of us who don't
care about multiplayer games will try Linux to see if it is true that it performs better than Windows on AMD GPUs. Either way, I don't expect a
mass migration, but going to something like 7% is not outside the realm of possibility.

They're going to be building out more natural gas capacity than they
wanted, also. They have to. I heard that even coal might make a
small comeback. We'll see about nuclear. I doubt I'll see any new

Apparently Windows 11 migration has decreased in the last couple of months. Windows 10 (even Windows 8) have *gained* users. Windows 11 usage (compared
to other Windows' versions) is now hovering below 51% (down from almost
54%), Windows 10 is at about 44% (up from 42%). I have no idea how many Windows users have gone to Linux, Macs or Chromebooks because of Windows
11's "AI slop." (Even Windows 7 moved up from 2.5% to almost 4% this year in the Windows' market.)

    https://gs.statcounter.com/os-version-market-share/windows/desktop/worldwide

A couple more videos. (And I realize these are estimates, but the trend is
not good for Microslop's Windows 11.)

AI "slop" (which is a nicer word than I would use)...

Windows 11 slop decreasing market share...

Funny how you don't hear as much about that any more now that AI is
the new "must have" for billionaires and the corrupt governments
    they buy.

I just spoke about this with my wife. I was making fun of the name
Microsoft was using for Office going forward and mentioned that it
seems that Co-Pilot is a failure with users. She corrected me and
said that companies are all going to a company they trust for AI, and
that is Microsoft. Apparently, in the financial field at least,
Co-Pilot is a tremendous success even if it isn't with general users.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is increasingly ignoring the general user in
favour of business ones and making tremendous profits. Considering
that, it only makes sense that home users who want to be catered to
move to Apple. Those who don't want to pay the Apple tax might as
well remain on x86-64 but move to Linux.

I don't know how well Microslop is doing with Windows 11. From
December 2024 to December 2025 they lost 9% of their market share in
the United States. It dropped from 68% to 59%. Meanwhile "unknown"
rose from 3% to 7.5%. And Linux rose to over 5%, from a little over
4%. MacOS and OSX (combined) rose from a little under 21% to over 24%.
Another year like this and Windows will have dropped below 50% market
share in the U.S. In December, 2009 they were at 86.5%. With few
exceptions it's been fairly steadily downward ever since. Apple has
also dropped from a high of about 34% in June, 2023.

I guess we'll see what happens in the next few months.

I still wonder what "unknown" is in these charts.

Admittedly, I can't imagine what "unknown" is either unless it's Linux
but the people are running through browsers that don't identify what
kind of system they're running on. It doesn't even matter. What does
matter is that Microsoft has really turned on its users to a point that
they might indeed take a look at Linux, if only to hold onto the
hardware they bought in 2018 for a little bit longer. Others will turn
to it because they hate AI whereas others will turn to the Mac because
they simply don't like Windows in general. A few will probably buy new
Windows 11-capable computers to play some multiplayer games which
require them to install the anti-cheat systems which only work on
Windows, but those of us who don't care about multiplayer games will
try Linux to see if it is true that it performs better than Windows on
AMD GPUs. Either way, I don't expect a mass migration, but going to
something like 7% is not outside the realm of possibility.

Apparently Windows 11 migration has decreased in the last couple of
months. Windows 10 (even Windows 8) have *gained* users. Windows 11
usage (compared to other Windows' versions) is now hovering below 51%
(down from almost 54%), Windows 10 is at about 44% (up from 42%). I have
no idea how many Windows users have gone to Linux, Macs or Chromebooks because of Windows 11's "AI slop." (Even Windows 7 moved up from 2.5% to almost 4% this year in the Windows' market.)

Yeah, but the copilot crap is making applications, like 365 Office (or whatever they're calling it now), less and less useful. Microslop may actually be driving corporations away from their own products.

I expected the same thing, but now it is up to Microsoft to disappoint its customers. As my wife explained, businesses have lots of AI providers to choose from yet go to Microsoft because they trust the company. It could
be because it is familiar to them through Windows and Office, or it could
be because the customer actually consider those products to be stellar. Whatever the reason, they see lots of competitors and choose Microsoft.
Unless Microsoft's service is absolutely awful, it looks like businesses
    will remain with them.

What happens when (if) Windows drops below 50% on the desktop? At what

desktop market share is now a real possibility (down from about 90% at
    one time). This is huge.

Honestly, I would expect that if Windows drops below 50% and the computing landscape becomes more varied, developers will do what they did in the
1980s and produce for the most viable platform as a priority. At that
time, they had the PC, the Mac, the Atari ST, and Amiga and the Commocore
64 platforms to develop for. The 64 had the largest installed base for a while, so they couldn't ignore it. The PC was quickly growing and seemed
to be the preferred platform for professionals. As interesting as the
Amiga and the ST were, their installed bases were too small and the ST in particular had lots of piracy. The Mac, on the other hand, was radically different and required them to create a whole new application which may or
may not have been worth the resources. What eventually happened is that
the PC base was so significant that they could make it a priority, make mediocre equivalents for the base model of ST, and port it over to the
Amiga which had a similar architecture. The PC version was clearly the
best, the ST version was fine as was the Amiga version which didn't use
the full potential of the machine came last. Once they realized how much piracy there was on the ST, it was a nice PC version with a similar Amiga version until they realized that there weren't enough Amiga users to
    warrant the port.

In this landscape, it would still be a Windows version first with a decent Flatpak of the same software for Linux if the installed base is
significant enough. If users don't buy the software, they'll quickly
abandon Linux as they have in the past. In fact, I think only games have a chance of being purchased on Linux. The Mac version would still be second because the architecture is too different from the PC's. IF its installed
base surpasses that of Windows, obviously it will become the priority with mediocre Windows ports becoming the norm.

If you watched one of those videos, hospitals HAVE to move away from
Windows because of patient confidentiality concerns. Countries like
Brazil, China and South Korea are moving away from Microslop over the
fear of being spied on. This was a concern with Windows 10, but Windows
11 is the catalyst that is driving them away.

And they're not wrong. The weeks I spent in Europe during the summer made
it clear that as far as user privacy goes, they value it a lot more than
the United States does even if they have a habit of arresting people for
their tweets. I guess they believe in privacy but not anonymity from the state.

We'll see what happens. But these articles are not coming from fringe
outfits any more. They're coming from PC World and Windows Central.
They're responding to their users' angst. Windows is becoming a useless
mess. And, instead of fixing it, Microslop is pushing their AI crap
    harder and harder.

What I don't think Microsoft realizes is that a lot of the Linux
distributions now, if a user takes the time to read how to prepare a USB
thumb drive, boot into it and try it out, are very attractive and
incredibly useful even in a live environment. If it were still as clunky
as it was in the early 2000s, they wouldn't have anything to worry about. However, if you load a thumb drive of a Windows installer versus that of a Linux installer, one gives you an installation screen whereas the other
gives you an operating system. One promises you that it will become useful whereas the other is immediately ready for you to work with. For a lot of users, the latter is going to be a lot more attractive.
