• Is Microsoft Winding Down Development Of Office?

Worth noting that the last version of Microsoft Office came out in
2024. In that time, LibreOffice has gone from version 24.8 to 25.8 <https://www.libreoffice.org/download/release-notes/>.

Wonder what Microsoft has been doing in the meantime? Of course it has
been pouring most of its development efforts into Microsoft 365, which
is the cloud version that also supports Linux.

So really, Microsoft is pivoting away from making its most important
    piece of application software Windows-only.

That, too, is a hint as to the future of Microsoft Windows ...

It should be noted that there is a significant difference between the
online Microsoft 365 applications and the ones installed on your
computer. Nevertheless, the online tools are good enough for most and
exist solely to compete with Google Docs which is also good enough for
most. In other words, the desktop tools are obviously much more
advanced, but they are unnecessary, so crying that Linux doesn't support Microsoft Office is pointless.
