There's just something about that hobbyware that stops laptop makers
    from embracing it.

I wonder if it has something to do with Microsoft threatening to no
longer supply them with Windows licenses if they sell machines that are bundled with a different operating system!

I'm looking at the "features" of these computers in the OP's list. CoPilot
PC and Mac Intelligence turns me away immediately. A Chromebook for $700?
    (Are people crazy?)

At any rate I'm typing this on a Lenovo ThinkCentre 910q Mini that my nephew rescued from the E-Waste bin where he works. I installed an already existing 2.5" SSD (500GB, my "main computer") plus an NVME, 256 GB SSD that I bought
on eBay for about $20. I also added another 8 GBs of RAM to bring it up to
16 GBs. This uses a 7th generation CPU (Intel i7-7700T), plus Intel Graphics 600. Works well in both Linux Mint 21.3 and 22.2 (I dual-boot). Eventually I want to move my "main computer" SSD to the NVME SSD because it's faster. (Right now I've got a lot of "bloat" on my main SSD, so I have to get up the gumption to clean it up.) This computer (according to Lenovo's site) originally shipped in June, 2017, so it's 7-1/2 years old. Works great in Linux but wouldn't qualify for Windows 11 (thank goodness).

I have several "hobby" computers (minis/micros) and laptops I need to sale
or hand off to family The one I'm mostly interested in now, is a very
simple, Dell Latitude 3180 (not the Chromebook version).

This Linux, the only reasons to get a new computer are 1) the hardware
died, 2) you _feel_ that it is too slow. Microsoft and Apple will make
sure that the hardware is slow before you're ready to replace it.

That's good know. I may not have to worry about it then. Thanks.

    Thanks. OMG. Those ARE funny!

How can you even think with all those devices and cables interrupting
