    Q: What's a "good" QR code generator for the phone?
    A: ?

    There's a recent thread on "scanning" QR codes, where Frank mentioned generating QR codes in passing, where I figured I'd look up generators.

    QR codes are used, generically speaking, to share information quickly
    Links (websites, menus, apps, documents)
    Connection details (WirCaFi networks, Bluetooth pairing info)
    Contact info (vCards, business card details)
    Actions (send an email, open a map location, start a payment)
    Data (plain text, IDs, coupon codes)

    While there are QR-code generators on the web, e.g.,
    <https://www.qr-code-generator.com/>
    <https://secret-guest.github.io/barcraft/>

    Some of which have Microsoft Windows QR-code generator installers
    <https://sourceforge.net/projects/barcraft/>

    For privacy reasons, you might want to generate the QR code on the phone.
    So the question would be what's a "good" QR code generator for the phone?

    The definition of "good" can be different for each person, but I generally
    aim for functional, yet free (for privacy reasons), advertisement free, GSF free (if possible), upsell free (if possible) and account free.

    Before searching in Skyica App Finder for a decent QR-code generator on
    Google Play, I find QR-code generators which appear to be FOSS apps.

    QR & Barcode Scanner (says it also generates QR codes)
    <https://f-droid.org/packages/com.example.barcodescanner/>

    SecScanQR (says it also generates QR codes)
    <https://f-droid.org/en/packages/de.t_dankworth.secscanqr/>

    BinaryEye (supposedly does generate QR codes even if not mentioned)
    <https://f-droid.org/en/packages/de.markusfisch.android.binaryeye/>

    But most people use Google Play (either via Aurora or the Play Store),
    so these are some reputed free ad free QR-code generators on that repo.

    QR Code Generator and Scanner, NC Studios (only 10+ downloads)
    <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.navchahals.FreeQR>

    QR Generator, by Sharkbyteprojects (only 100+ downloads)
    <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sharkbyte.qrcodegenerator>

    Barcode & QR Code Generator, by Zoho (also has QR code generation)
    <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zoho.barcodemanager>

    QR GenieN+UFast & Facile, by HeleyZ (also generates QR codes)
    <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pringle.codescan.handyqr>

    Note that I didn't check yet which of these "use the cloud", as this is
    only a first-pass check of free ad free QR code generator apps, but if
    any app ever asks you for an account (that doesn't need it)... run away.

    For a proper app, Binary Eye is the one I keep coming back to

    Oh, the OP wants to scan a barcode/qrcode from a screenshot on the same
    phone as the barcode/qrcode? Is that what his goal is after all?

    Maybe I didn't understand 'cuz can't Google Lens already do that?
    Open Google Photos (or your Gallery if it has Lens built in).
    Tap the screenshot containing the QR code.
    Tap the Google Lens icon.
    Lens will detect the QR code and show the link or action.

    If the OP has a dislike for Google products, then maybe a search for Many
    QR apps that let him choose an image from your gallery instead of using the camera.

    I ran a really quick search for apps with options like
    "Scan from image" or
    "Import from gallery.

    This came up which claims to do what the OP wants it to do, I think.
    <https://github.com/wewewe718/QrAndBarcodeScanner>
    <https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.example.barcodescanner/>
    "SCAN FROM IMAGES
    Scan codes from image files or directly using the camera."

    This too. Although the Google Play Store link seems to be dead.
    <https://github.com/czlucius/code-scanner/blob/main/README.md>
    <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.czlucius.scan>

    Probably plenty of others... which the OP can easily test for the team.
