I don't think so. I was surpised at this article too, but I assure you
they report on the idiots in DC also. Subscribing to the NYT online and
their own app is the most expensive newspaper I've seen, but it provides
good stuff to read at home and when I'm waiting for the dentist, doctor,
or barber. The app has sections on Today, Lifestyle, Opinion, plus in alphabetical order, on arts, australia, automboiles, books, buiness,
climate and environment, education, food, health, the Sunday magazine,
movies, music, New York, obituaries, parenting, politics, real estate,
science, sports, style, technology, television, theater, travel, U.S., weddings, and more.

Years ago I was a regular online NYT reader. In those days they gave you

No doubt that the NYT is the stronghold of quality journalism in the US.

Yes, most of the article is about the reaction to black and white. Which

Sorry Arno! I profoundly apologize! For some inexplicable reason, I
had you mixed up with someone else. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima
    culpa!

As to the solution: On my Samsung Galaxy A56 phone with Android 16, I
found the setting by searching for 'grayscale' (or 'greyscale') in its Settings. As Settings are nearly always brand or/and Android version
dependent, I can not give specific instructions for other phones.

On my Samsung phone, I can assign this function to a personalized
'Mode', which is accessible in the 'Modes' part of the drag-down
settings menu (where you have things like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane
    mode, etc.).

Apologies accepted. Sorry for my harsh reaction, but I got a bit upset

As I stated in another post I meanwhile also found the respective

    Im my stone-age (60.9.0) version: > Tools -> Options -> 'Composition'
    tab -> 'Spelling' sub-tab -> Language:.

It's the same setting order in my even more stone age version (45.0).
(I prefer the earlier version because I can turn off updates since it
works well and all I need and use it for is Usenet.)

Mine is set to 'English (United States)'.

Mine is also set to 'English/United States'.

I tried typing 'grayscale' again and I still get the wavy red
misspelling underline. When I right click the suggestions are: gray
scale, gray-scale, and graceless. (Perhaps the last suggestion best fits
me...) Anyway I just clicked the 'Add to Dictionary' line and problem
    solved...

If you do 'Download More Dictionaries', you get an extra
'Dictionaries & Language ...' tab which keeps spinning until you
close the 'Options' popup, a bit counter-intuitive.

Mine has Australian, British, Canadian, New Zealand, and US dictionaries
for download. Whew, English is sure complicated, huh...

BTW I got a new laptop so am back to using my old copy of TB. I
lasted well over a month without Windows but like any addict I
    came back.

Well, there are worse addictions. Not *much* worse :-), but still.

And I really didn't like that Android newsreader anyway. It was a
PITA for sure. The new LT toy is an Auusda brand. I chuckle when I
say it because it sounds like someone having a hard sneeze to
    me...

    Gesundheit! :-)

    Danke sch%n ;)

My grandparents on my dad's side spoke fluent German. When they wanted
to discuss something not for my ears they switched to it. Unfortunately
I never picked it up. But I do remember Godzunetiet and dunkershane...

Did you know that Barney Rubble was one of the designers of USB? He
    doesn't get enough credit.

do was erase the cookies they planted and I got three more free

I don't remember how long the NYT over 3 article ban lasted. But erasing cookies was easy with my cookie eraser browser extension button. Just
tic it every 3 articles and I got all the reading I wanted.

The other plan is to get a new computer for each 3 times you use the

As much as I often get new electronic toys to play with and give away

I never sign up for any news subscriptions. They often make it easy to
sign up and very difficult to cancel.

That's called advertising. Even the old paper newspapers did it. They do
it because it works. Trouble is these days the moving/pop-up advertising
    is so much more annoying...

(although most people would just share their userid/password. Maybe
    somehow they prevent that?)

There are ways to prevent password sharing. Netflix tries. I'm not sure
how effective it is for the determined hacker.

But usually it nags me to get more than news. Heck, all I want is
news so why are they nagging me when I pay them so much. I
    complained once, LOL.

Nagging (advertising) works. Otherwise they wouldn't waste their time
with it. All the news I want is free through various sources such as the
local TV stations and national websites like CNN. And by the use of
various browser extensions I can eliminate the popups and go to all
text and still photos with no ads...

Seems to be a feature of newer Android versions.

Hi Arno and others on the Android ng team,

I ignored this thread until it got so long that I wondered what it was
about. Interestingly to me anyway, is that on my Samsung Galaxy A32-5G on Android 13, my "Grayscale" is on. But I've never seen it. Hmmm....

Dunno but it seems to be tied to sleep mode but I'm not sure.
I found "Grayscale" in Settings > Modes and Routines > Sleep'

I guess it never went on because at the "Sleep" activity, there's a big fat blue button saying "Turn on", so I suspect my sleep mode stuff is off.

Apparently I can delete the entire "Sleep" menu, which I just did.
What's there is Theater, Driving, Exercise, Relax & Work.

None of which I even knew existed.
So it's nice to know, but I don't think I need them.

Apparently there are not only "Modes" but "Routines" too, where tapping
about I see a warning, which, well, you know what that means to me.
"To automatically start modes and routines based on your activity,
you need to sign in to your Samsung account".

Apparently you can delete any mode except the default |Drivingi one on some models (according to a search).

It seems you don't need the Samsung account unless you want them to be automatic, but I'm not sure about that either.

If I wanted automation, I'd probably use the Automation app to do it.
    <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.llamalab.automate>

Still, it's nice to know it's there if I ever go color blind. :)
