• Algol 68 / Genie - append to file and/or work with "stand back" files?

I'm stuck with the task to read contents of a file and then add (write)
to that r/w file. Or, alternatively, to just append to an existing file.

Things don't seem to work as I've learned them, and the Genie document
also didn't help me here. (Either it's underspecified or undocumented,
it seems, and my various random tries lead to various runtime errors.)

Keywords: use of PROC 'set' and use of 'stand back' FILEs.

Any hints (or examples) that work with the Genie are much appreciated.

Note: For the actual version 3.9.10 Marcel added a (yet undocumented)
    'append' function.

(The problems I had with "stand back" files and 'set' haven't been
addressed in the information I got. - I may do some investigations,
but that's low priority at the moment.)
