That'll be me. It's '2' because I post from this desktop and occasionally

A useful statistic to report would be the ratio of original
contribution to quoted material. (Or something equivalent.) For example,
this post has seven lines of comment and two lines of quoted material.
(Plus an attribution line and some blank lines.) It's probably easier to calculate characters than lines.

This was not an issue years ago, but lately we are getting many cases of quoting an entire post, without trimming the irrelevant parts.

A useful statistic to report would be the ratio-a of original
contribution to quoted material. (Or something equivalent.) For example,
this post has seven lines of comment and two lines of quoted material.
(Plus an attribution line and some blank lines.) It's probably easier to calculate characters than lines.

Oh! I see what you are getting at. People who don't trim or just reply
'+1' to a whole post get revealed for ...em... surfing other people's
    posts?

There was one ex-poster who I always suspected of trying to improve his
stats, in the old days. Poster PTD had something to say about every
post, irrespective of the irrelevance of his comments.

This was not an issue years ago, but lately we are getting many cases of quoting an entire post, without trimming the irrelevant parts.

You could measure posters relative entropy. [1]
    (with respect to themselves)

[1] So how much new information do you get from a posting,
assuming you have already seen many of them.
Even without really measuring anything one may get a feeling,
and will just call it 'being boring' instead.

I think enthusiasm for Perl has fallen over the last several years. Go
