The bag search happened as soon as Sophie told Sophi that she had heard Kristina might have an idol.

"It was an invasion of privacy, but an invasion that had to happen,"
    explains Sophi.

Wow, they really went to town on that bag. How did Soph possibly put everything back in a way that Kristina wouldn't notice? Or maybe she
did notice and that's part of why she played her idol? Otherwise,
Kristina playing her idol on Steven was an interesting move. Had she
played it on Jamal instead, Savannah would have gone home and the whole
season (and maybe next season as well) would have changed.

Correction - if she had played her idol on Jamal, Rizo would have been
alerted to play his real idol. But would he play it on himself or
Savannah? If he played it on Savannah, then he himself would have gone
home due to Kristina's vote on Rizo. If he plays it on himself, then
Savannah goes home. Either way the season plays out differently, since
Jamal in the game and one of Savannah or Rizo gone means the remaining
one only has the two Sophies as allies and Jamal is firmly in the majority.

BTW, this was the first episode where Sage and Jamal voted the wrong
way. And Sophie is is now the only player to have voted correctly in
every TC she has attended - four TCs in a row since merge. I wonder if
Jeff gave any consideration to putting Sophie in S50 in place of
Kamilla. She has arguably played a better and more impactful game so
far than Kamilla did. There doesn't seem much difference between having
three players from S49 istead of three from S48. Only real argument I
can think of for Kamilla being picked ahead of Sophie is they were
    trying to meet diversification goals.

I've often wondered how people who snoop in others bags put everything
back in place. In this case, it seemed like it would be next impossible
to do. Kristina had that HII very well hidden.

I think Kristina played her idol on Steven because her side was
convinced that Savannah's alliance was targeting him. They all seemed blindsided when they found out Sophie had backstabbed them. Did you hear Kristina say to Steven, "At least it wasn't one of us"? I'd say what
changed the season and likely S50, is Sophie deciding to go with
Savannah's side and providing them with all of that great info.

Horrible timing for Jamal to be on the wrong side of the numbers. Sage deserves to take most of the blame for his ouster. She's getting sloppy
with her reads and it cost Lawan his chance at winning a million.

I agree the new owners have dropped DEI rules, but that doesn't mean the producers and especially Jeff might not still want a diversified cast.
But you might be right that they might not want three players from a
    season no one had seen.

I'd give the edge to Sophie over Sophi right now as an S50 candidate in
the alternate universe because of her dominance in challenges, her
perfect voting record and the influence she seems to have right now with
her alliance. But of course we will need to wait and see how the two
Sophies do in the remaining episodes. On paper it seems to make sense
that Sage and Steven will be the next to go, and then the alliance of
four will have to make a decision on whether to drag Kristina any
further. Although I still think Kristina is the perfect goat, I think
the others will get rid of her at F5 if she doesn't have an idol.

Horrible timing for Jamal to be on the wrong side of the numbers. Sage deserves to take most of the blame for his ouster. She's getting sloppy

I don't know - I think Jamal was getting a bit too cutsey in trying to
play both sides and pretending to be with both alliances. And talk
about sloppiness - the way Jamal overreacted at Tribal and told Rizo to
play the real idol was an obvious and desperate signal to Rizo that the

Diversified doesn't have to mean 50% BIPOC. My only problem with New Era
casts is when players openly used race as part of their game strategy.
It's a big reason why I was not a huge fan of S41 and S42. I hope the

I agree. I also think that any complaints about race seem to be edited
out this year, since they deliberately didn't show MC's comments during
that whisper session at that one TC. There was also no followup

Yeah, that was horrible game play. I also just noticed that I called

Wow, they really went to town on that bag.-a How did Soph possibly >>>>>> put everything back in a way that Kristina wouldn't notice?-a Or

himself or Savannah?-a If he played it on Savannah, then he himself >>>>> would have gone home due to Kristina's vote on Rizo.-a If he plays
it on himself, then Savannah goes home.-a Either way the season
plays out differently, since Jamal in the game and one of Savannah
or Rizo gone means the remaining one only has the two Sophies as
allies and Jamal is firmly in the majority.

If Rizo had played his HII it would have been on Savannah. They
seemed to have allowed Sophie to call the shots this TC. Even if
Rizo played his idol, I don't think Kristina would have used hers on
Lawan. That side all thought Lawan was perfectly safe. The targets
to the were either Steven (highly likely) or maybe Kristina.

I can't see anyone ever targeting Kristina since she is not a threat
in challenges and there is no way she could win the game.

Depends on how persuasive MC is at Ponderosa. lol

    Good one.

BTW, this was the first episode where Sage and Jamal voted the
wrong way.-a And Sophie is is now the only player to have voted
correctly in every TC she has attended - four TCs in a row since
merge.-a I wonder if Jeff gave any consideration to putting Sophie
in S50 in place of Kamilla.-a She has arguably played a better and
more impactful game so far than Kamilla did.-a There doesn't seem
much difference between having three players from S49 istead of
three from S48.-a Only real argument I can think of for Kamilla
being picked ahead of Sophie is they were trying to meet
    diversification goals.

I'm pretty sure the new owners had dropped DEI casting rules before
S50 started. Maybe they thought having three players from a season
fans had not seen was too risky. If Sophie makes F3 or even F4, I
would say jeff screwed up not casting her. You could make the same
    argument for Sophi.

I agree the new owners have dropped DEI rules, but that doesn't mean
the producers and especially Jeff might not still want a diversified
cast. But you might be right that they might not want three players
from a season no one had seen.

Diversified doesn't have to mean 50% BIPOC. My only problem with New
Era casts is when players openly used race as part of their game
    strategy. It's a big reason why I was not a huge fan of S41 and S42. I
hope the show keeps casting the way they have been. The
    diversification has helped the show.

I agree. I also think that any complaints about race seem to be edited
out this year, since they deliberately didn't show MC's comments during
that whisper session at that one TC. There was also no followup
discussion about it on the next episode.-a Let's see if anyone mentions
next episode anything about four blacks in a row being voted out.-a I'm guessing not.

I'd give the edge to Sophie over Sophi right now as an S50 candidate
in the alternate universe because of her dominance in challenges, her
perfect voting record and the influence she seems to have right now
with her alliance.-a But of course we will need to wait and see how
the two Sophies do in the remaining episodes.-a On paper it seems to
make sense that Sage and Steven will be the next to go, and then the
alliance of four will have to make a decision on whether to drag
Kristina any further.-a Although I still think Kristina is the perfect
goat, I think the others will get rid of her at F5 if she doesn't
    have an idol.

I agree with everything you've said. I like both Sophi(e)s a lot, but
at the moment, Sophie Segreti Survivor is winning out.

Horrible timing for Jamal to be on the wrong side of the numbers.
Sage deserves to take most of the blame for his ouster. She's
getting sloppy with her reads and it cost Lawan his chance at
    winning a million.

I don't know - I think Jamal was getting a bit too cutsey in trying

wasn't getting any screen time. For some of these guys, I know their
last names. That might be due to seeing them on X.

Speaking of social media, I occasionally look at some their IG accounts.
You'd think with Savannah's TV background that she would have a decent
number of followers. She's only got about 21.5K followers. Sophie
Segreti has just 5.2K followers. The legend RIZGOD has a mere 12.1K
followers. Sophi Balerdi has 28.3K followers! As far as I can tell, she
had no real following before S49 started. I wonder why she's gained so
many followers when basically all of them are just posting S49 content?
Is it an indication of how much hate Rizo and Savannah are getting? With
all the hype those two got preseason, you'd think they would have way
    more followers than they do.

There's too much money involved in online advertising for fake followers
to be tolerated. I'd say her numbers are legit. 28K+ followers is
nothing special. My surprise at the follower numbers has to do with how
low Rizo and Savannah are. I thought being a TV anchor and reporter

We'll have to see if her numbers shoot up postseason.
