A Florida-registered speedboat carrying at least ten people opened fire
on a Cuban Border Guard vessel Wednesday, the Cuban Embassy in the U.S.
said, prompting the government vessel to return fire.
According to the embassy, four people aboard the speedboat were killed
and six were injured. The commander of the Cuban vessel was also injured.
The speedboat was roughly a mile north of Cayo Falcones when Cuban
officials approached it for identification, the embassy said.
