This has happened before in south Florida.
As temperatures dip below 40 all the iguanas go
into a coma and fall from the trees. They are
not dead, but often seem to be.
Some from south of the border do collect and
EAT the things.
I'm sure it 'tastes like chicken' :-)
There remains the possibility of WHITE snow
on the west coast of Florida also. Not much,
but some. The Gulf waters will supply the
moisture.
Back in the late 70s there was snow in
Florida all the way down to Miami. Into
the 80s there was at least one sub-20
bout that actually exploded all the
citrus trees and overloaded power
grids. Florida homes are built to
stay COOL ... staying WARM is not
usually a design consideration.
North of Florida it's a huge deep-freeze,
expected to continue for maybe five days.
Some mid-Atlantic states expect LOTS of
snow, but it's the perpetual cold that's
the greatest threat.
Hmm ... sounds almost like "The day after the
week before Tomorrow" movie ....
Europe is also seeing repeated waves of
extreme cold.
