Probably NOT.
The 'warning' involves the country losing its last
life-line, Venezuela. Implosion will happen, soon.
Cuba only survived THIS long because of its relevance
to the USSR ... and now later to regional quasi-commie
dictators. However it's all worn thin. They can barely
even keep the lights on, and not all of the time.
In theory the country produces enough food to keep
the pop alive ... but how to GET the food to them
if there's no fuel for trucks and such ? Will the
pop stand for a neo-medieval lifestyle ? The old
propaganda may not hold up.
Then what ?
Alas my GUESS is that the old old commies WILL try
to hold on to power for as long as possible, even
as the country crumbles around them. Not good.
The USA cannot afford to rebuild Cuba either. It's
WAY too big a mess. We can help, some, but it will
be a long long road to a more modern Cuba. Whatever
the commies touch, ROTS. Cuba has rotted.
