Pizza used to be cheap, filling and everywhere rCo now Americans
    are walking away from it

Once the second-largest restaurant category, pizza now ranks 6th
    as some chains shutter locations

    . . .

Admittedly it's not especially good for you.

However it was THE quick choice for a long
long time - fabled in prose and film. The
(maybe) Italian snack became All American.

"Health" may not be THE major issue here
however - PRICE instead. Pizza used to be
fairly CHEAP. College students lived on it.
Not cheap anymore. Performance of restaurants
and delivery ain't what they used to be either.

Oddly, the main ingredients are almost entirely
made-in-USA, so you can't blame 'tariffs'. The
over-the-top minimum wage laws now so common
MAY be the main inflationary force.

Oh well, with so many players, maybe it is time
for a shake-out. Good places will survive. At
some point we're gonna see 'R2D2 Pizza' with
no human workers - that'll fix the wage, benefit
and insurance issues, won't it ? Is that what
    you want ?

    (note I don't really like pizza - indeed I don't
think I've eaten any since the 80s. however I
do recognize its place as a sort of American
icon, part of the common culture, a statement
    of American attitudes)

I will not eat prepared food of any kind from a delivery service. Ever.

Probably wise. The Work Ethic Score for too many
delivery people is now into the negative numbers.
