• Umm - What's With Rubio at Venez News Briefing ?

    From c186282@c186282@nnada.net to talk.politics.misc,alt.politics.usa,alt.fan.rush-limbaugh on Sat Jan 3 12:28:42 2026

    12:15 pm at Mar-a-Lago :

Trump looks like he's been up 48 hours - which
is probably true and kinda understandable.

Rubio however seems VERY VERY nervous about something.
Keeps twitching and looking around the room as if he
expects a squad of kommie kommandos to suddenly attack.
Speaking kinda rapidly. Did he take a fistfull of bennies
    to stay awake ?

As for Maduro ... unclear if he's still on a US warship
or has been moved to some detention facility in Florida.
Is Noreiga's cell free ? Trump says the plan it to take
him to New York. Maybe Mamdani will spring his Fellow
    Traveler ?

Trump says the USA is "going to run" Venezuela until
the legit president can create a new government. This
may be good or kinda bad. Maduro's hand-picked VP
has apparently fled to Moscow - let's hope she
    stays there.

So far, neither Russia or China has said much of
anything about all this even though both have
interests in Venez and Maduro is in the Kommie Klub.

Finally, Cuba ... it'd been, barely, getting by on
Venez charity. For now their free oil and cut of the
dope biz is going to be cut off. Regime collapse
    IS possible.

Yep ... that struck me within a minute of the
presser starting. I've seen people on speed
and he showed many of the signs. Likely he'd
been up as long as Trump, but was then expected
to give a good little speech.

The mil has an anti-narcolepsy drug that kinda
just turns off the need to sleep, for days if
necessary. I don't think that makes people all
twitchy. You'd think Marco, or anyone who has
to keep up with Trump, would keep a little of
    that on hand.

As for Maduro ... unclear if he's still on a US warship

It'd be funny though - and justify a federal
    take-over of NYC .....

Trump says the USA is "going to run" Venezuela until
the legit president can create a new government. This

She's as bad as he is only she seems a lot more intelligent.

Trump claims she's gonna play ball. However her
close association with Maduro is a stain and
potential problem. Using her in sort-of legitimizes
    the whole Maduro regime.

BUT, at the end of WW-2, the allies DID leave a
lot of lower-level NAZI officials running things ...

So far, neither Russia or China has said much of

Cuba has been in trouble for years and getting worse.
    Gonna be interesting for sure.

Cuba has been crumbling since the late 60s, getting
by on momentum from the initial Soviet investment.
Fidel could hold it together by sheer force of
personality ... but the follow-ons, no.

I am not a fan of USA practicing regime change as it seems to go sideways every time.

Limiting our involvement/exposure WILL be difficult.
First up is realizing we SHOULD limit our role and
not get dragged into endless detail after endless
detail. DO expect the dope lords there to try and
seize control of some or all ... and they'll be
hard to deal with. If we let it, could be a 25 year
operation. Better for El Salvador to advise the
new govt about dealing with drug gangs.

    12:15 pm at Mar-a-Lago :

Trump looks like he's been up 48 hours - which
is probably true and kinda understandable.

He did look tired. Obviously after a very long night.

Rubio however seems VERY VERY nervous about something.
Keeps twitching and looking around the room as if he
expects a squad of kommie kommandos to suddenly attack.
Speaking kinda rapidly. Did he take a fistfull of bennies
    to stay awake ?

    That he did.
He kept looking around and had an interesting look on his face.
    Kind of odd.

Those Cuban exiles and their descendants are the most fanatical people
    in the country.

Those Venezuelan expatriates are in a fanatical emotional state right
now but they may not be so happy when Venezuela is in even worse shape
than it is now because Trump refuses to give them the long term
military and financial support they're going to need.

"You can't import democracy" as the saying goes. It has to come from
    the ground up.

And "Super" tries to construct another false narrative.

    Laughter!

Unlike countries such as Iraq, Russia and China, Venezuela has a
democratic history. The nation should be able to recover assuming
they get at least a moderate amount of support from abroad.

I remember Reagan ranting about the
    "power hungry" Sandinista government in
Nicaragua. Which stepped down when it
was voted out of office a few years
    later.

... and voted back in in 2006.

"The FSLN is now Nicaragua's dominant party. Since the 2006 Nicaraguan
general election when Daniel Ortega was reelected President of
Nicaragua, Ortega and the FSLN have centralized power and overseen
democratic backsliding in Nicaragua.[40][41][42] In October 2009, the
Supreme Court, which has a majority of Sandinista judges,[citation
needed] overturned presidential term limits that were set by the constitution.[43] Ortega and the FSLN were reelected in the
presidential elections of 2011, 2016, and 2021, although these
elections have been denounced entirely by international
observers.[44][45][46] The party is firmly controlled by Ortega.[41]"
