Face it, the past 20 years have been WEIRD in the
historical context - weird and in many ways more
dangerous.
The cold war has turned warm. Nutters too often run
the asylums. Old nobodies are suddenly major players.
No such thing as 'sensible moderates' anymore - you
will get lynched for being sane. Great Britain has
become an Islamist slum and the EU is revealed to
be a bunch of mostly-broke chickenshits. Canada
has gone kinda full commie and looks for excuses
to 'euth' people. USA seems on the brink of some kind
of multi-way civil war. Everyone is hooked on Fentanyl
or zoned-out on "Soma" - er, THC Gummies. Birth-rates
have fallen WAY below 'sustainable'. Debts are WAY up.
Fanatic baby-burning terrorists become heroes. Every
"-ism" is getting swapped for some other, equally
bad, "-ism".
In short, very very WEIRD - and not very encouraging.
Last time something similar was going on was the
early 1900s ... and then there were two world wars.
Can't be a third, but SOME people don't seem to
realize that anymore.
