A major food importer and distributor based in New Jersey
expanded an already sweeping recall of products over
Salmonella contamination.
The products were distributed nationwide by Chetak New
York LLC, marketed under the Indian cuisine brand Deep.
The list includes frozen vegetables, prepared dishes,
fruits and flavoring bases.
The recall began on July 16, was expanded by the company
on September 9 and was officially classified by the FDA
on December 11 as a Class I recall, the most serious
classification, signifying rCya situation in which there is
a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to
a violative product will cause serious adverse health
consequences or death.rCO
The recall expansion comes on the heels of a now-closed
investigation of a Salmonella outbreak linked to foods
distributed by Chetak across 11 states that has sickened
12 people and hospitalized four.
. . .
IS there a phrase in Hindi for "quality control" ?
Maybe this Chetak is located somewhere the local
dialect does NOT have this phrase ???
India remains an odd 1st/3rd world country, high
tech on one side of the street and medieval on the
other side, so to speak.
