The United States would suffer a devasting defeat and lose
its biggest aircraft carrier if it tried to stop China invading
Taiwan, according to a top secret Pentagon report.

War games showed the U.S. would be overwhelmed by China's arsenal
of around 600 hypersonic weapons, along with missiles and
    nuclear submarines.

The grim assessment, revealed by the New York Times, confirmed
the conclusions of previous war games, but it also highlighted
wider concerns about the future direction of the U.S. military
and its continued reliance on outdated methods.

    . . .

I've writ on the US Mil being stuck in the
last century. I'll stick to that assessment.

Giant ships and planes will NOT save us, just
    make for bigger targets.

There are rumors that China is now producing
fully automated, "AI", fighter planes that
can out-perform humans. Just rumors, but if
so they won't be for long.

    Automation/AI/Drones have changed EVERYTHING
very quickly. I know generals and admirals get
a buzz seeing thousands of troops standing to
attention ... but that's the LAST CENTURY kind
of military. It will result in a disaster.

With the new trump National Security Strategy embracing China as his BFF,
    why would it matter anymore?

solution has to come from pols who either think [probably correctly] that
the system buys votes, or don't have the guts to fix it.

I donrCOt feel confident that Strategy document will keep me safe.

I am still trying to grasp TrumprCOs explanation about his uncle and the Unabomber.

Nobody even knew Kaczynski was the unabomber until 11 years after uncle
trump died. EVEN in the unlikely event that they somehow crossed paths a
decade earlier, why in the world would uncle trump even mention some random non-famous student by name to Donald, let alone why would Donald ASK him
about some random student that nobody had ever heard of (yet). More than a decade before anyone even knew he was the unabomber?
    Total dementia.
