I couldn't remember whether or not I was reg'd at the forums, so I
looked in my forum pw/s and didn't see LM; but I know I have searched
the forums before, presumably as a non-reg.

My datapoint here is that when I go to the forum 'now', not logged in,
there is no access to any search function.

An add'l datapoint; the registration process for the forum works, I
reg'd, I can access the forum, there is a search function, I can log
out, and I can access the forum NOT logged in and there is again no
    search function.

Current status for me; everything works from registration anew to search
to access as a guest w/ no search.

    Here's another idea:

The certificate and CA for the site are Starfield.

In my system, I have etc/ssl/cert dir which has 3 Starfield .pem/s to
verify the LM forum cert situation.

That is different from the 403 Forbidden biz.

    Right now:

    https://forums.linuxmint.com/

    Hosting Server Read Timeout
HTTP 504 rCo Unable to Read from the Origin Server

    Whereas this one works.

    Here's a bunch of non-specific gglAIov stuff for 403:

    -----
    Solutions for Users (Client-Side)

Refresh/Retry: Wait a moment and try reloading the page; it might
    be a temporary block.
Clear Cache & Cookies: Old data can cause conflicts; clearing them
    often helps.
Use a Different Browser/Device: Try Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or a
    mobile device.
Check URL: Ensure there are no typos in the web address.
Disable VPN/Proxy: Your connection might be blocked; try turning
    off your VPN or proxy.
Try Incognito Mode: This often bypasses cache and extension issues.

I didn't realize that the Search was gone for those not registered, but I
go there so rarely that I forget my password and have to reset it rCo yet again. You can probably do a Google search for the subject and Linux Mint forums to find what you want without registering.

    It is working here too.

Maybe the problem is a time of day thing and
related to not enough capacity in some
    part of Securi.

The forums got / are getting blasted by those AI scraper bots, so forum
admins restricted guests quite heavily within the last few weeks (i
    think right after Christmas).

It's "helping" to some extent, but its also making a lot of people
    whine, which is kinda funny.

Werll this just sucks, it appears related to me using a vpn. If I disable
my vpn the site comes up immediately, with my vpn in enabled I get the "forbidden message". I'm going to need to explore this issue further. By
the way I'm using Mullvad Vpn.

Split tunnel firefox and the forum page works. Disabled split tunneling
and tried various Mullvad Vpn servers around the world. Norway servers
work London UK works, Sweden doesn't work, Mexico doesn't work,
Switzerland doesn't work, Canada Calgary and Vancouver work, Toronto and Montreal don't work. Most of the US servers don't work, however I found
one in Los Angeles that does work, so I'm using that one. I'm going to
keep testing as I would like to find a server closer to my location, but
if I have to keep using Los Angeles I can live with that. I've have fiber
to my house thru AT&T so bandwith and latency are not an issue.
