This is a f/up to a thread I started in May at which time I went thru'
some 'distraction' in learning about some Mageia behaviors in the live.

I decided that the Mag isodumper and the default Mageia behavior in its acceptance/treatment of USB as an /optical/ wasn't going to be
compatible w/ my creating a SSD-loaded Mageia as a persistent live.

But the good news is that I do have a Mag XFCE on USB created w/ Mag's isodumper as persistent, and the persistence is better than some types
of persistence which only 'leave'/save some storage space available, but
do NOT allow one to build a persistent 'system'. Back then I illustrated
that w/ the diskinfo of the isodumper usb

As I mentioned a coupla' months ago, there are 'tricky' Ventoy methods
for the distro/s which allow persistence such as Puppy and MX to get a *better* persistence than Ventoy's 'simple' storage persistence.

I haven't yet figured out if anything about that strategy can be applied
    to Mageia or not.

HK has been having some trouble lately; it isn't that much to paste the diskinfo here again:

I like live disto + persistence (of the right kind, not just 'some
data'). In the past I've been happy w/ Linux Mint + dus/mkusb, but
recent LM and mkusb didn't get along, requiring me to shift that to an
    install on SSD.

I've been able to put MX on a Ventoy SSD + an SSD persistence and Puppy Bookworm 64 on a combo of Ventoy USB + ssd persistence, but not Easy OS.

Today was my first go at Mageia's and I was disappointed that the
isodumper's file manager wouldn't let me use a Ventoy USB live Mageia 9
XFCE to access its .iso from another device; but I managed to get
things situated after some trial and error by using the partitioned USB
to boot Mageia live and add the isodumper and then write to a different
USB w/ the isodumper. Next I want to figure out how to have the Mageia
.iso on an SSD and its persistence (I guess in the form of a partition)
    on SSD.

Here's the structure of a persistent live on a 16G USB from diskinfo:

Of some interest, when Win Rufus (older v on W7) was asked to write the
.iso to a USB, it noted that the Mageia hybrid 'condition' was
unconventional (or some word, maybe not recognized) so it was going to
need to write as dd, one of its options. And, when I try to examine the
USB w/ such as gparted, it just sees the iso9660 partition as that,
without more information; whereas such as 'Disks' in linux mint or the diskdrake in Mageia can see the 9660 part better, such as above diskinfo.

And, I've found a page linked from the wiki on live persistence about
    custom peristence.

It can help if a manual process of the creation of persistence is described >> here.

I've just done it like this:

... and follows a useful conversation w/ others.
