    Good luck with the re-imagining.

The existing prison at Westville, formerly a psychiatric facility, will
close when new Westville is completed. It's just 15 miles from Michigan
CIty. I still haven't found an explicit statement that death row will
move to the new Westville, but it seems likely.

I was told by someone who lives in Michigan City over the weekend that >>>the prison is being replaced with a massive new prison built in a nearby >>>county. I had no idea that Indiana death row was here. I wonder if it's >>>being moved to the new prison or another prison.

The prison is on the west side of town in a somewhat prominent location. >>>It doesn't have an enormous fence or wall around the perimeter of the >>>property. The front lawn is quite expansive. It's just west of a >>>residential area.

I knew we had a thread about this. For the moment, death row and the
execution chamber remain at Michigan City.

Roy Lee Ward is scheduled to be executed 10/10/2025.

I remember this case. In July 2021, he talked his way into a home, then
raped a 15 year old girl. Part of the crime was witnessed by the younger sister. The perpetrator stabbed the victim with a knife. I doubt there
was any way to save her but she had to be transported to a hospital in a
    larger city, where she died.

There was some controversy about his diagnosis. His lawyer said he was improperly diagnosed as anti-social (no ability to feel remorse) and
should have been diagnosed on the autism spectrum (some ability to feel remorse). I have no clue why his lawyer felt an autism diagnosis would
    have made clemency less unlikely.

The state parole board, which advises the governor on clemency
petitions, didn't feel that either diagnosis explained the crime. They
    did not recommend clemency.
