William F. Anderson has died at age 98. He worked for Chicago Tribune
for two decades, 1956-1976. He had a variety of reporting beats, from neighborhood news to Washington bureau covering military and space.
After Washington, he was an editor on the city desk and was eventually
the city editor. He was there for the Democratic National Convention
(1968) and all sorts of civil unrest. Later, he stayed in Washington as
a top government official.
