Russell Marion Nelson (Sr.),17th president of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,born September 9th
1924,died September 27th 2025 according to church sources.
First in his medical school class in 1947,he was a heart
surgeon by profession until he became an Apostle of the
church in 1984 and proceeded to outlive anyone who had
done so before him,becoming President of the Quorum of
the Twelve Apostles (heir apparent) in 2015 and President
of the Church in 2018.(He was the second,and his assured
successor Dallin H. Oaks is the third,leader to accede
to the top job at age 93,and was the first to serve past
age 100).

At the time of his 100th birthday,it was reported that
the 57 children of his 10 children (9 daughters,2 now
deceased,and a son) had produced 167 children of their
own,the first of whom fathered Nelson's first great-
great-grandson in 2020.
