    ANN ARBOR, MI rCo Ann Arbor is offering financial incentives to get residents to ditch gas-powered snowblowers this winter.

    For residents who trade in a gas snowblower, the city now provides rebates knocking up to $200 off the price of an electric snowblower or snow
    shovel.

    The cityrCOs sustainability office, which is on a mission to get Ann Arbor off fossil fuels, launched the new rebate program Dec. 8. It runs
    through March 1 or until funding is expended.

    The rebates can be used toward purchases at any retailer and cover 100% of the cost of a shovel or up to 50% of the cost of an electric
    snowblower, up to $200, with a maximum of one rebate per household. To receive a rebate, residents are required to recycle an old gas-powered
    snowblower through a process laid out on the city website.

    The city also recently announced rebates for residents who trade in gas leaf blowers for electric blowers or rakes.

    Do they offer free replacement batteries and hand-shoveling too?
    GooGoo AI Overview
    Electric snow blowers often struggle with deep, wet, or icy snow due to
    power limitations, battery drain in cold, or clogs, but they excel in
    lighter, quick cleanups, offering ease of use without gas hassles;
    performance issues usually stem from low battery, clogged chutes, or
    improper use (like hitting ice), not inherent failure, and can often be
    fixed by charging/replacing batteries, clearing obstructions, adjusting settings, or using them for appropriate snow types.
    Power & Battery Issues: Cold weather reduces battery life, and a weak battery can't provide enough power, especially for heavy snow.
